Our biggest round yet: @K2SpaceCo has raised a $500M Series D at a $6.8B post-money valuation. The round was led by @kleinerperkins and @ICONIQCapital, with participation from @CapitalG, @lightspeedvp, @AltimeterCap, @sparkcapital, Sands Capital, @ARKInvest, @TRowePrice, and other existing investors.
"Scaling” is probably the word I’ve used most often the past few months in conversations with our investors, customers, and employees when talking about what’s next for K2 Space in 2027 and beyond:
--We’re going to continue to scale up mass production, to deliver against the $1B + in contracts we’ve won to-date.
--We’re going to scale up the satellite itself, from the 20kW Mega to the 100kW class Giga. Its no longer just 100kW, but we’ll save that update for another day.
The capital from the Series D will turbocharge this scaling.

This sounds beautiful to me. I'm sure classical music buffs can tell me why it's not really very good. But I will wonder what they'd say if they didn't know it was AI.
Claude Opus 5.5 writes a fugue in the style of Bach. I called Astra’s fugue the most impressive musical feat I’d ever seen from an LLM, and this is just as good. The circle-of-fifths sequence beginning at 1:13 is beautiful. The interplay of voices is natural and satisfying. LLMs are getting to the point where their music is good enough to listen to for pure enjoyment.

Thank you to the customers who run on HIFI, the team that builds it, and the investors who back it.
Demand is accelerating. We now process more than $7 billion a year, and existing customers have grown their usage more than 400% in the past six months. Together, they've onboarded more than 10,000 businesses and 200,000 individuals through HIFI.
Our technology runs from Wall Street to everyday payments. In July, HIFI's platform was part of DTCC's pilot for tokenized repo. And through our partnership with Visa, developers can pair HIFI's stablecoin settlement with Visa Direct to move money globally.
With this round, we're building toward the full stack of tokenized money, from payments and stablecoin cards to tokenized capital markets. the reality is that someone didn't like Lucas and used their position of power to block hundreds of jobs and what easily would have been a top attraction for all of those living in and visting san francisco

Claude has discovered a previously unknown enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages. Beside the enzyme’s gene sits a long array of repeating DNA—a structure that looks somewhat similar to CRISPR.
We don’t yet understand what this system does, but only a handful of known systems share its features, and all of them are able to cut, copy, and paste DNA. Historically, the discovery of such programmable systems has helped revolutionize medicine. CRISPR, for instance, is now the foundation of genetic medicines. But it will take much more work to learn what this system does, and whether it can be put to similar use.
