**FIRST CONVICTION UNDER NEW SCOTTISH HUNTING ACT** Earlier today at Paisley Sheriff Court, Claire Bellamy, ex-hunstwoman and former Master of the Lauderdale Hunt, was found guilty under the Hunting with Dogs (Scotland) Act 2023. She is the first registered fox hunter to be convicted under this legislation, making today a historic moment in the fight for an anti-hunt future for Scotland. Bellamy was filmed by members of Glasgow Hunt Saboteurs on 4th January, 2025 in Houston, Renfrewshire, deliberately hunting a fox with a pack of hounds while supposedly operating under licence from NatureScot. However, it emerged that Bellamy did not have the required paperwork in place to be in charge of the hounds that day. The judge found Bellamy guilty after viewing footage obtained by hunt saboteurs, describing the footage as 'gut wrenching'. It has taken more than 18 months, but today we finally got the result we always knew we should get. Over the coming months, more of Scotland's fox hunters will find themselves in the dock facing a whole range of charges. After today's verdict, we're sure they won't be feeling quite so confident.
