WERE YOU SPANKED IN SCHOOL? “15+ States Still Let Public Schools Paddle. D.C. Can’t Ban What Parents and Districts Already Decide” There is no federal ban on spanking in public school. The Supreme Court left that to the states in 1977. About 15 to 18 states still allow it. Most of them are in the South. Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, and Wyoming authorize it by statute. Indiana and Kansas have no statewide ban. Kentucky still has it on the books, but every district there has already killed it. That is the truth. Legal does not mean every teacher swings a paddle. Houston, Dallas, and Miami-Dade opt out. Rural districts keep the option. Florida now requires parental consent. Use has fallen for years. The paddlings that still happen cluster in Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and Texas. The fight is not “does America beat children.” The fight is who sets school discipline: a distant agency, or the people who live with the classroom. States that kept the tool did not invent cruelty. They refused to pretend a federal rule would fix a kid who will not sit down. If a district wants it gone, vote the board out. If a parent wants a consent form, demand one. Do not let Washington turn a local discipline question into another morality play. #SchoolDiscipline #CorporalPunishment #ParentsRights #LocalControl #PublicSchools #StatesRights #Education #Paddling #SchoolBoards #AmericaFirst

We had spankings in our school with a trolling boat paddle with holes drilled in it. I never got one because I never got caught...

Well yes, I did Jim! I got the paddle in middle school & slapped in the face by my 2nd grade teacher over & over again (she was senile & had NO BIZ teaching kids)! She would throw our books on the floor & make us come pick them up! Held the bathroom door open so others could see!

We called them “hacks.” I got a good number of hacks in middle school. They were a great attention getter. Of course, when I got home, it was known what happened at school. So, I got more attention to help modify my bad behavior. BTW, they didn’t cause any permanent physical or mental damage.

My sister 'raising' her grandson now 5 insists "Huxley isn't a sit down shut up kind of kid." It's G-parents like her who ruin the discipline factor and refuses to address the real problem, her.

I can’t remember if it was allowed. I was a good kid and didn’t need discipline. I knew if I got spanked in school as soon as I got home, my parents would tear me up worse!🏏 😂

My dad made the paddle and I got spanked with it first. My parents would tell the teachers if I got outline to paddle me.

People should never have accepted a ban on the ten commandments or prayer in public school.

Yes - we were spanked by the Nuns and sometimes hard! I never experienced their wrath because I tried to follow the rules, studied hard, did everything I was told and actually excelled in school! So I was one of the luckier ones, but I saw other students receive their comeuppance by the nuns and if they complained to parents, got spanked at home as well! However, in favour of the nuns,we learned fast how to be self-reliant, resilient and independent! We learned discipline at an early age and never bawked at authority, as we learned early on, its ramifications! We had nuns and teachers teaching various subjects at least about 8 or 9 in total.Homework was very heavy each day and if one was not prepared, one failed and during the finals, if this happened, was never passed onto the next grade but made to warm the bench all over again in the previous form! It was a wonderful school life and my kids dont have the same efficacy as we had and these modern trends of teaching dont quite match up! But its all water under the bridge and I wish those times were back again for my kids!🙏

If getting paddled with the back of blackboard brush in the coat room by Sister Mary Elizabeth for making farting noises counts. Then, Yes.....

Spanking was allowed, but I didn’t get spanked because I behaved. I still remember a social studies teacher in middle school who had a long, wooden paddle with holes drilled in it and usually it was boys, but they got a couple of swats in the front of the class.

My last paddling was in 4th grade. I don't remember why but I do remember Mrs. Staff. Maybe 1978 in Tennessee

I wasn’t, but several of my classmate were given “the swat” with a wooden paddle that had holes in it. The boys mostly treated it like a joke, but were probably a bit embarrassed.

It’s needed with 3 out of 4 black kids born to single mamas. A national disgrace. Uncle Sam makes a lousy fake father.

Spankings in school were great deterrents. I was born in the 60s. These days kids “bad” kids were nothing like today’s bad kids.. we were taught by our parents. — These days kids might beat the crap out of teachers who spank or worse

No, personally I was not. In my day 1960 -1972 we respected adults. We didn’t necessarily like them. Some were assholes. But if they told us to do something or not to do something we respected their guidance. My parents may or may not have agreed with the punishment. But I’d have never known. They would have discussed their objections with the principal. After they had spanked me, given me extra chores and grounded me from everything but school and church for at least two weeks.

In 3 years, compare red states to blue states. Kids in blue states will not know how to read, will be fully indoctrinated into Marxism, but they will know all kinds of dysphoric ideology. Red state kids will thrive because the forced federal leftist ideology is now gone.

With a paddle, for talking. It had holes in it to lessen wind resistance. 💨 It was after P.E. and I had on only gym shorts and a jock strap -- no padding at all. It so painful I was sore and had welts the next day. Same paddle broke a girl's tailbone the next year.🩻
