Open letter to Sony You got ripped off by Pete Parson of Bungie in the biggest heist in gaming history. You paid $3.6 billion for a failing company. You can do 2 things now. Punish everyone at Bungie for your mistake or go on the offensive to make your money back. This letter is about option 2. You can make your money back and here is how. You need to monetize D2 better. I have over 10.000 hours in the game and built several multi-billion companies that controlled 4% of the Internet before the US Government shut them down, unlawfully. You have nothing to lose at this point so hear me out. Monetization of D2 is shit. You have a large community and here is how you grow that community for Bungie to be profitable. Add a marketplace for the best items in the game. Let users and content creators auction what they earn in-game. Sell vault slots. Many gamers are horters. Let them pay for it. Add items that are truly rare. Make the gaming experience more rewarding by limiting those special items. Change the sandbox and allow Gamers to feel powerful. Allow 3rd party developers to make commercial mods for D2 and acquire the best mods. Make D3 Turn this bad investment into a winner. You will have some pushback from the community about ‘pay to win’ but having some criticism is much better than letting D2 die. Make content creators excited to play and promote D2 again and you will observe a steady increase in player numbers and income. Regards, Kim Dotcom

I hope not. But if yes I will buy the game with a group of investors in a year and make it profitable. For example I don't need hundreds of developers. I can do it with 30 or less and let AI do most of the work.

I busted my ass to earn the Ace of Spades (Cayde-6) gun. 1. My sons name is Ace 2. @NathanFillion is one of my favorite actors (Serenity/Firefly) voiced Cayde-6 3. It was hard for non PvP to earn with an insane amount of headshots with a revolver in PvP. Then. They allowed anyone to just get it. Made all that effort irrelevant. I swore I would never play Destiny 2 again. Turns out I got lucky as the game only seemed to get worse. Such a great ip. I remember every meeting at Activision Blizzard I would see the promo trailer on loop in the lobby. I remember when I brought a major credit card company to discuss marketing and activations and they spoiled destiny 2 for me and I was so disappointed. The only one in the room that was disappointed bc I was the only real gamer. I can't believe they fumbled. Now the market will make a correction using D2 as the unfair example. All this to say. D3 is the way 100%

I never understood the slowdown of destiny because it’s such a good game. Ironic coming from someone who at some point stopped playing, but not due to any complaint tho, with kids and all I just couldn’t dedicate grind time anymore

Sorry, but no one will come back to the game to buy items for real money. Players left because items have gotten boring, content was mediocre at best and PVP balance was absolutely garbage with all the ability spam. If you want to revive the game: add pvp maps. How in the flying fuck you can't add a single map to a multi billion dollar action-mmo is quite beyond me. Even if it takes 24 hours to boot up the map editor. Then add expansions like Forsaken . Use AI where you have to, I don't give a shit but add as many secrets and missions like the whisper as you possibly can. STOP VAULTING. We paid for that content, Destiny was always about doing the raids you love with friends and running back through missions to do quests etc. whenever you wanted. They removed entire planets people paid for. Probably the biggest fumble in gaming history. Then finally get your stupid story in order and finally tell it in game and not lore cards. We know you can do awesome trailers so put them in your darn failing game. And tbh just do this for D3 as you screwed so many people over I. D2 that its rep is already fucked beyond repair. Anyone remember the 2020-2021 cheater disaster?

Pantheon was such a good mechanic they dumped it why... Add it back. Add a better season pass process. Add bank slot buying. Allow trading between characters/guild who are friends for a a long time. Bring back iron banner, add more PvP scenarios Allow increasing difficulty of everything with rewards Add extremely rare drops and skins Focus on dungeons and PvP with a new raid once a year Add guild areas with open mic capabilities

A system where items are truly rare (not this BS everyone can get every item easily we saw in the last year or two, bring back aspirational weapons and items), a p2p marketplace, and the ability to expand vault. Easy wins Imagine a game where there’s actually only a limited number of a given exotic.. that you could trade or purchase from another player.. “I’m 1/1000 people who have a Hawkmoon” or whatever you want to pick.. the fomo would debatably kill me Like you I’m probably in the same range 8-10k hours in D2, countless hours with friends, new and old.. I’m heartbroken that this is where we’re at, but I hope there’s a light at the end of the tunnel

The problem isn't a lack of money—it's mismanagement. Destiny still prints millions. Bungie didn't just survive after selling Halo to Microsoft; they thrived on Destiny alone for years. The real issue is that Bungie turned into a bloated, corrupt bureaucracy. They squandered their resources on frivolous projects, bloated teams, and terrible decisions, while treating their golden goose with contempt. Sony fell right into the trap Pete Parsons set by buying a deeply mismanaged Bungie — but that’s ultimately on Sony. Pushing even heavier monetization on Destiny is a terrible idea. It’s exactly why so many players drifted away in the first place. Sony should cut its losses, yes, but deliberately destroying the game while it can still generate revenue would be far worse in the long run. Most of your other ideas are genuinely intriguing and could help turn things around. But doubling down on monetization? That’s the last thing Destiny needs if they want players to actually come back and stay, or even attract new ones.

Destiny is a franchise that could have continued for another 20 years. How can it be corporate greed when these companies are allergic to making money?

First of all make a next gen version of D1. The Renegades expansion was awful and didn’t progress the story for Edge Of Fate. Not seen Xivu Arath after Eris remove her from their throne world. I could go on

Hell no, Destiny 2 was monetized too much already and that Eververse money was dumped in to Marathon & canceled side projects. Either invest in making Destiny 3 or just close the studio.

Sony is going to find out the hardway. Giving up on the Destiny franchise in favor of Marathon will end in failure.
