This is the last week of what I call âeasy votingâ in Florida. During early voting, you can vote at any open early voting site in the county where youâre registered. On Election Day, you have to vote at your assigned precinct, which can create confusion, especially for people who have moved or donât normally vote.
So, down-ballot candidates. This week, Iâd focus on low-propensity voters and precincts where turnout has lagged. Thatâs where candidates need to show up, canvassers need to knock, and turnout events need to happen.
Jacksonvilleâs Precinct 706, whose Election Day polling location is Beaver Street Enterprise Center, is a good example. In the 2024 general election, Democratic turnout there was 57.6%, compared with 73.6% countywide. Thatâs 1,113 registered Democrats who didnât vote.
