I visited last week, met some of the locals, some of whom had lived their whole lives there and were from families who had also done so. I also walked the village. It's beautifully kept, but no more than a hamlet really, since it has no shop or pub. It has a village hall and a church built in 1428 (with a visitors book that goes back to 1951, LOVE that, and yes, of course I signed it!) More importantly, I walked the route to the camp - max 10 minutes at a slow pace, easily done in 5 if you wanted, which is currently no more than a few ruined buildings on MoD land. It is, literally, right next to the children's play area and park. Anyone can objectively see this is a terrible, terrible decision that will completely decimate this 600-year-old community.
