No way on earth is inflation anywhere near 3%, at the supermarkets many items are up 50% in 2 year and still rising, we know Energy and Fuel are through the roof, so what is coming down to to get it 3% overall?

Why has Jaguar Type 01 got huge charging flaps ( I presume) on both sides? @ctrlaltrefuel Cybertruck levels of opinions for this vehicle I reckon.
Jaguar's new future has arrived. Meet the Type 01. If there is anything certain in our tumultuous automotive world, it is that upon seeing the newly revealed Jaguar Type 01 you will have an opinion. Likely a strong one. Jaguar design chief Andrew Wheel says that the new car is “The truest expression of Jaguar, in the context of today.” With the car now revealed, Jaguar has also opened the books to accept pre-orders from interested customers. But anybody wishing to kick the tires will have to wait until next year when full production is finally underway. It will also be around that time when we’ll get to finally determine if the driving experience lives up to the promising signs from pre-production encounters. What do you think about the Type 01's looks? Read our full story on the new Jaguar Type 01 ➡️ bit.ly/4yA2Obh

Online advertising is starting to cross a line. Click on one product and suddenly it's everywhere. Sometimes it feels like you see more adverts on social media than posts from actual people. Advertising used to sit around the content. Now it feels like the advertising is the content. We're not just being shown adverts anymore. We're being relentlessly targeted. 🇬🇧

Maddening to see the Conservatives pledging to scrap requirements for new homes to come with solar panels as standard ☀️ Solar on new homes should be a no brainier - cutting bills, and cutting our reliance on foreign oil and gas ✅ Another step backward from the Tories 🚮

So NESO ultimately closed the gap with a huge, limit busting amount of interconnector trades whose cost is not yet known And by paying up in the BM We went through the peak without drama. Frequency held up fine But we busted the interconnector trading limits (cost not yet known) and paid some tasty prices in the BM... Scroll to the bottom of the linked page and you'll see lots of trades just under £1000 /MWh The total balancing cost so far today is £14.75 million vs an average daily cost of £2.3 million. This excludes the SO-SO interconnector trades and the BM costs between now and midnight The system balanced but @neso_energy paid almost 6.5x more than normal to balance the grid plus the cost of the SO-SO trades AND it obliterated the intraday interconnector trading limit And it's only the very start of winter. Demand is well down on where it will be in December /January when the daily peak will be c45 GW and cold days could be as high as 55 GW We also don't know if the EU is going to keep allowing the interconnector trading limits to be breached. Presumably it had an objective in mind in setting the limit (it thinks system operators shouldn't interfere in the markets but should use market mechanisms to balance their grids). These objectives are not met if the limits are breached. The big unknown is whether the EU will keep giving NESO this flexibility or whether it starts to strictly enforce the limits @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @harrietc @ColinMoynihanUK @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk enact.lcp.energy/
@neso_energy has cancelled the EMN Looks like demand is forecast to be lower Outturn at 3pm was a touch down on this morning's forecast... Outturn was 614 MW lower at 3pm than forecast this morning... NESO error in our favour. Imagine if it had been the other way round 😯 Amira's demand forecast is down 84 MW at 7:30pm and 42 MW at 11pm so tiny vs the 3pm difference I didn't note the BMRS forecast NESO uses this morning so can't say how much that changed It will be interesting to measure outturn vs the forecast We can also see the market is delivering imports to GB in the peak now. Looks like this is the main difference for the peak @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @harrietc @ColinMoynihanUK @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @ColinMoynihanUK @TiceRichard @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @cmackinlay @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk

I had just hit post when this update hit, slightly ahead of schedule (unusually) Also unusually, the expected shortfall has GONE UP!! Only slightly to 1880 MW but still that's very unusual. Typically after an EMN is issued the shortfall progressively reduces as generators make more generation available, grid maintenance is moved around and some demand reductions are found That the shortfall has increased and the EMN has been updated slightly early suggests NESO is asking the market again to look at what it can deliver This is now officially in the energy winter (started 1 Oct) but still unusual for the time of year @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @ColinMoynihanUK @griffitha @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @mattwridley @DavidGHFrost @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk @neso_energy
@neso_energy has another Electricity Margin Notice in place for today... Shortfall 1840 MW for 3pm to 11pm today This is an unusually wide timeframe covering far more than just the evening peak So what's going on? Wind is set to be low dipping to 1700 MW at 6pm Solar will peak at 6758 MW at 1pm, be at 5882 MW at 3pm and zero from 7pm Interconnectors are nominated to export the max capacity of 8756 MW between 12:30pm and 2pm. Imports and then nominated to fall to 6285 MW at 3pm, 435 MW at 5pm and then flip to exports reaching 1979 MW between 6:30pm and 7pm. Exports are then set to fall, with the cables flipping to imports of 528 MW between 8:30pm and 9pm before heading back to export mode with exports reaching 1282 MW at 10:30pm which is the last available time right now Demand is forecast at 33,203 MW at 3pm, peaking for the evening at 33,940 MW at 7:30pm and then falling to 25,843 MW by 11pm The grid will be tightest between 5:30pm and 8pm where NESO will need imports to meet demand As before I expect NESO will turn to intraday SO-SO trades on the interconnectors to resolve this. It has been consistently buying back up to the cap for quite a large part of the past day and since 5:30am this morning I expect this will continue but I also expect the cap of 1500 MW in any settlement period to be breached. Again @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @ColinMoynihanUK @griffitha @HarrietCross_MP @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @mattwridley @DavidGHFrost @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk

I'm not a financial guru, but we had a huge crash in 1993 & 2008. I reckon we are due one soon. Companies can't hide their downturns behind upbeat messages to bolster share values. The fuel crisis will further reduce people's spending power resulting in an economic death spiral

Remarkable how large organisations will spend any amount fighting complaints rather than do the right thing by their customers after getting it wrong. Yes, looking at you @ShepherdsFS

First cool evening of autumn and this.. 🙄 I’m sure the EMN is a route for generators to charge extortionate rates thus keeping our energy bills high. @neso_energy This will be cancelled later once the high price has been agreed. There is no shortage of generation.
NESO has issued an Electricity Margin Notice for this evening’s peak period. This is a routine and precautionary operational tool, there is no risk to customer electricity supplies and Great Britain’s electricity system remains secure.

Seems ridiculous that the critical infrastructure on and around canals is left to a charity to manage and maintain. Anyone ever seen a charity tin rattled for this trust or donated to it? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c50m…
