Reddit is quite interesting today. It ish predominately left wing, but most people are really not happy with David Eby. Some NDP voters are saying they will not vote NDP again. Eby's decision could actually backfire on him.

I received a call from a campaign manager to help on a campaign, but I am already working on 2 municipal campaigns. I worked closely with a candidate in the 2020 snap election and it was a very stressful scramble. Even worse now with 2 elections happening simultaneously. 1/2

Richmond did not have issues like this before supportive housing was built. It proves the adage "if you build it they will come". Unfortunately what the government calls "supportive" is sorely lacking where people don't get proper help, and the surrounding community suffers.

Same old rhetoric like there will be a safety plan and other cities have done it. But nearby residents are right, it will attract more camping, drugs and dealing, public safety issues like crime and fires. Why does this keep happening without proper mitigation?

#VPDNews: Crown Counsel has approved a charge after Vancouver Police arrested a man who allegedly wielded a chainsaw at people downtown.
The incident happened near Davie and Denman streets last night at approximately 7:00 p.m. The man was yelling obscenities near a coffee shop patio when he allegedly turned on an electric chainsaw and began walking toward people.
Bystanders ran away, and no one was injured.
Vancouver Police officers arrested the man at Beach Avenue and Burnaby Street within three minutes of receiving the 911 call.
David Meadows, 67, has been charged with one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Harm reduction and arresting are band-aid solutions. Target the source of the problem. Increased mental health support and drug treatment is paramount. Bring back involuntary care for those who can't care for themselves.

This is terrifying. Just out for a nice Sunday afternoon walk the woman was randomly whacked over the head. The police did everything they could have and should have done. This is a failure of our justice and bail system.

The school I work at (support staff) will go from 6 Kindergarten classes down to 3 in September. I wonder if low fertility/birth rate is a factor? It is a growing area with new construction all around.

When I had a caregiver client in Riverview, there were people from Colony Farm Forensic in locked down wards of Riverview. Like a 2nd stage release for the dangerous cases. Now they are in a "supervised" house, free to go wherever. Totally unacceptable, especially in this case.

Very well written and true. If your chosen candidate doesn't win, give some time and give the winner a chance, even if they are someone you really didn't want. Take time to observe them in action and support the party toward a common goal.
The @Conservative_BC leadership race is a family tug-of-war, not a civil war.
The minute our new leader is announced, we are all on the same page.
The real contest is not between leadership candidates.
It is between an NDP government that has lost control of the basics and a Conservative team ready to restore competence, confidence, and common sense in British Columbia.
