Brexit cost an estimated £90 billion in lost tax revenue in 2025 alone. That money could have eased the tax burden on working people and funded our NHS and public services. I welcome the Prime Minister’s opening to Europe, but he must go further. Rejoining the single market and a customs union would bring growth and prosperity back to Britain. With war in Europe and an unpredictable White House, our security also depends on standing with our closest neighbours - cross-border problems need cross-border solutions.

Almost 7 years ago @EdwardJDavey came to #Alperton to back my campaign to get the @LibDems back onto Brent Council. I now lead a Group of 11. The joint second largest in our local authority. Without Ed’s steady leadership we wouldn’t be where we are. He has my full support.

All of these MPs are amazing campaigners who understand what it takes to win.

For the avoidance of doubt, I won’t be signing this letter. It’s a ridiculous distraction. Ed is clearly the best person to lead us to the next General Election and beyond, and like the overwhelming majority of my MP colleagues, I’m absolutely furious.

Ed Davey led the Lib Dems to our best election result in 100 years through a campaign that saw me - and many other new MPs - elected. At a time when other parties are led by fantasists and narcissists, many voters tell me they see Ed as a decent and caring man. They are right.

Not a lot surprises me in politics any more but this was a real shock. @EdwardJDavey is the most successful leader electorally in our party's history and has my full support. This move is poorly judged when we should be concentrating on defeating the far right.

The Government of #Kenya has reported imported case of #Ebola caused by Bundibugyo virus, in a Kenyan citizen who had been living in the #DRC. The patient became ill in DRC and received treatment in several hospitals, then travelled from DRC to Nairobi via Kampala, Uganda. He died in Nairobi yesterday. My condolences to his family and loved ones. @WHO is supporting the governments of Kenya, the DRC, and Uganda in contact tracing, surveillance, screening, and other response measures to rapidly identify potential cases and prevent further spread of the virus. WHO advises against any restriction of travel to, or trade with, the affected countries based on the currently available information.
