Maura Healey just told the whole state of Massachusetts where I live that when you have a baby, “you’re going to have a home visit” so a government-appointed healthcare provider can “make an assessment.” Not “we’re offering a free nurse if you want one.” You’re going to have one. That’s the tell. They can stamp “voluntary” on the Welcome Family flyer all day. The governor’s own mouth said the quiet part: everybody, home visit, assessment. Official pages even list “ensuring that your home is safe” as part of the visit. That’s not a lactation consult. That’s a state employee walking through your kitchen, looking at your setup, asking how you’re sleeping, whether you’re depressed, and whether your house meets their standard- then calling back two or three weeks later to check that you used the “resources.” Massachusetts will fund the killing of a baby right up until birth and then, 24 hours later, send a nurse to inspect the ones that made it. Make that make sense. They don’t trust you to raise your own child without a government clipboard in your living room. This is not “support.” This is an invitation that will age into expectation, then data collection, then a paper trail that can be used against you. Once a state worker is inside your house “assessing” you, the next step is always easier. DCF doesn’t need a warrant if you already let them in. Do not comply. Do not open the door. Do not let them “assess” your home, your mental state, or your parenting. A free nurse is still a state agent. Offer or not, the answer is no. Your house is not a wellness checkpoint. Your baby is not a state project. Stay the hell out of our homes.
