I sat down with the American Petroleum Institute and stakeholders across the energy sector to discuss the urgent need for Congress to pass permitting reform. Projects that power our grid, heat our homes, and fuel our cars often wait years for permits. Because so much of our future economy depends on building major infrastructure and energy projects, I co-introduced the Expanding the FAST Track Act to lower the threshold and allow more projects to qualify for streamlined review.

From rigs to reefs. From steel to sanctuary. Last week, Natural Resources Republicans advanced @RepMikeEzell’s Marine Fisheries Habitat Protection Act out of Committee to expand the Rigs to Reefs initiative. Soon after, @POTUS took executive action to establish a federal Reef-in-Place Program. Together, we’re conserving thriving ecosystems, supporting America’s anglers and strengthening our coastal communities.

Our public lands are only as accessible as the roads and trails that get people there. The Legacy Restoration Fund has already invested billions to repair aging infrastructure and address deferred maintenance across America’s public lands. Now we need to build on that progress through the America the Beautiful Act and keep these places accessible for future generations.

A big win for northeast MT. Our Fort Peck rural water reauthorization has passed Congress and is headed to the President’s desk. The bill extends federal authority through 2028, giving the Bureau of Reclamation more time to finish critical water infrastructure on the Fort Peck Reservation and across northeast Montana. This week in @NatResources, I spoke in favor of cutting federal red tape and streamlining local projects. Environmental review processes should protect our resources without making it nearly impossible to actually build anything.

As a lifelong hunter and fisherman, preserving America's outdoor traditions has long remained one of my top priorities. The executive orders released last night advance priorities I have championed in Congress. My House-passed Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act protects the use of traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle on federal lands and waters unless restrictions are supported by science. The executive order advances that same goal by directing federal agencies to review restrictions on ammunition and tackle. The President's action to establish a Shark and Pinniped Depredation Task Force also builds on my bipartisan SHARKED Act, which would improve coordination between fisheries, scientists, and anglers to improve research and responses to shark depredation. These are important steps toward preserving access, supporting responsible conservation, and ensuring Americans can continue to enjoy the great outdoors.

In the 119th Congress, this Committee has worked tirelessly to unleash American energy, strengthen western water infrastructure, fix our forests, support tribal sovereignty and responsibly steward our natural resources. We are proud to have advanced nearly 300 bills out of committee, passing 159 off the House floor, making ours the most productive committee in Congress. Yet the true measure of our work lives in the communities strengthened, the lands and waters responsibly stewarded and the opportunities to explore the great outdoors passed on to generations to come.
