I guess this is more a comment on Harris's political instincts than AI policy. IDK, it seems like a weird read of the mood for the former VP (and 2028 contender) to endorse a lobbying firm/comms shop embedded within a D megadonor's VC firm as the right way to mediate the debate.
This is an encouraging effort to bring industry and government leaders together to pass the kind of sensible AI oversight we need. It is possible to heed the warnings of so many AI researchers and address safety concerns without sacrificing the technology’s benefits. But time is running out; the federal government must act quickly.

So, we need to use this time to structure a more open, public and democratic conversation about AI. Building on the statements that the frontier companies have already made, some leaders in the space announced they’re launching what they call Project Blueprint to help tech companies and policy makers work together on setting stronger standards and guidelines for AI development.

The word salad lady is not known for being a critical thinker. It’s weird that you gave her that much of thought to be honest.

Nate, you’re making the classic mistake of treating Kamala Harris as a serious individual who knows what she’s talking about. Remember, she didn’t write this nor know what it means.

This take is so off the rails though not surprised as it came from you. She called it “an encouraging effort “. Call it leadership or call it a voice of a concerned leader. It’s one voice of so many leaders in the AI industry who have spoken out about the need for oversight.

Nate you’ve become obsessed with being a contrarian take rather than being a reliable perspective OR the drink that stirs the straw. Congrats on being the 1N (policy debate burn).

She has terrible instincts but this isn't a great take. She didn't endorse anyone as a mediator.

Oh look, everyone: Two years later, smug punk Nate Silver has rediscovered his true vocation; attacking Kamala Harris. Time has not been kind to Nate's incel misfit brain -- does anyone even understand what the fuck he's trying to say?

They’re morons… they needs their marching orders. And it’s better to get the center majority leading than the main ignorant far leftists who come off as China agents. To be clear: Rs act the same on other issues.

If the allegations Andreesen made are correct -- this is in perfect alignment for Biden and Harris Those allegations were that those two wanted to basically anoint the companies who would be allowed AI development and all others would be barred

Why is it that you always have so many more words to say about whatever Kamala just said than you do for any other politician Like other politicians speak and you tweet about baseball, then Kamala comes along and you're like STOP THE PRESSES, SHE HAS SPOKEN AND I MUST CRITICIZE

Odd move for someone still leading the 2028 field. A YouGov survey last month put Harris at 25% of Democrats in a hypothetical primary, top of the pack. Reed Hastings already dropped $1 million into a pro-Harris PAC and now prefers Newsom, so the donor class is drifting.
