Advocate and Certified Producer Organization for Texas High Plains cotton producers.

Lubbock, TX
Cotton has never been an easy crop. It has weathered drought. Markets. Rising costs. Changing policies. Changing times. And still, every year, producers put seed in the ground believing in what comes next. That’s the story of cotton worth telling today. On World Cotton Day, we celebrate more than a crop. We celebrate the people who keep choosing it, fighting for it and building its future — one season at a time. Cotton is resilient because cotton people are resilient. #WorldCottonDay #Cotton #TexasCotton #CottonFirst

Cotton: It’s the thread that ties Texas fields to your everyday life. And today on #WorldCottonDay, we celebrate the farmers who grow it and the many ways the crop impacts our lives.

Children are more vulnerable to microplastic exposure. What they wear matters. Fiber choices can impact our health and the future we're creating for the next generation.

It was GREAT to welcome leaders and members from Plains Cotton Growers and Texas Farm Bureau to Washington, D.C., this week! Texas agriculture is the BACKBONE of communities across our state, and I’m PROUD to stand with the farmers, ranchers, and producers who work to feed and strengthen our nation. I’ll continue fighting in Washington to make sure the voices of Texas agriculture are heard LOUD AND CLEAR!

I met with cotton producers and representatives from Plains Cotton Growers and the Arizona Cotton Growers Association to discuss the issues facing farmers across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arizona. Cotton producers are dealing with high input costs, market uncertainty, weather challenges, and tight margins. They need a strong farm safety net, a farm bill that gives producers certainty, and policies that support American-grown cotton. I voted for the Farm, Food, and National Security Act, and I am a cosponsor of the Buying American Cotton Act, which supports U.S.-grown cotton and domestic textile production. I will continue working with agriculture leaders to support producers, strengthen rural communities, and protect the farmers who help feed and clothe our country.

Enjoyed meeting with the @PCGNews to discuss the Farm Bill and the priorities of Texas farmers and producers.    Folks like the Plains Cotton Growers play an invaluable role in helping to feed, clothe, and fuel our nation, and I am proud to work to ensure our agricultural producers have the support and certainty they need to succeed.

I reread this every year. I cry like a baby every year. Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero. Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked. Lisa: I understand. Can they see you? Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake. Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor. Lisa: Are you okay? Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again. Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true? Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan. Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call. Lisa: I promise. Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy. Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.) Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol. Todd: I understand. I’ll be back. Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot. Lisa: What are you going to do? Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out. Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

A weather phenomenon that we haven’t seen very often this year, but glad to see it with thunder, even though the rain was just .35 of an inch, it was appreciated l!

Keith Patrick, a proven relationship builder and mainstay in the Lubbock community, joined the PCG staff on August 3, 2026, as the Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy Analysis. Patrick comes to PCG with a long track record of advocacy at the local and state levels, focusing on public education and infrastructure issues. His agricultural advocacy foundation was built while earning his master’s degree in Agricultural Communications at Texas Tech University, which involved an internship with former Congressman Mike Conaway. “I’m so excited to be joining PCG and coming back home to agriculture,” said Patrick. “West Texas remains the world leader in cotton production, and PCG’s advocacy work is vital to ensuring our region can continue to compete in a global market and is supported by policymakers at all levels. I’m deeply grateful to be trusted by our producers and infrastructure to represent their interests in Austin and Washington, D.C. This is a dream come true.” Originally hailing from Goliad, Texas, Patrick has called Lubbock home since 2001. He enjoys camping, fly fishing, live music, and exploring national and state parks with his family. He and his wife Kristin, a fifth-grade teacher, have been married since 2014. They have one daughter, Emerson, who is entering fourth grade and loves to dance, craft, and play basketball. “We are proud to have Keith join our staff,” said PCG CEO Kody Bessent. “PCG is proud to serve our producers and infrastructure and is always seeking ways to elevate that service. We are confident Keith’s addition will be valuable to our industry throughout our region, state and nation.”

Tomorrow is America's 250th birthday! "As they walked off the boat and onto soil that would later declare independence as its own free nation, both Alexander Hamilton and Tench Coxe were obsessed with autonomy. Working their way up to secretary of the treasury and assistant secretary of the treasury, respectively, these two men were key players in laying the foundation for the domestic fiber industry in what would eventually become the United States of America." After visiting with producers this week regarding the 2026 planting season, most comments reflected the following: - Most areas report a "𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗴" — some strong stands and some weak or failed dryland. - Several regions stressed the 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 to sustain dryland cotton. - Irrigation is 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 in many cases. - Some acres have been 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 due to cold or late rain. - A few producers reported 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, but with caution. Feel free to add your status in the comments. #plantingseason #choosecotton

The MAHA movement doesn't stop with what we EAT — It's also about what we WEAR. For decades, America offshored textile jobs and allowed foreign synthetic, plastic-based materials to take over the clothing market. Together with @SecKennedy, the Great American Cotton Plan puts American-grown cotton FIRST again: supporting our farmers, strengthening U.S. manufacturing, and giving families a natural choice.
