Correct! The screens are polarized for the pancake optics, of course, but there is an additional polarizer/retarder scheme that rejects almost all ambient light as long as it isn't somehow polarized itself.
The only reflections are from the first surface, hence eyecup option.

I think the argument here is that the ROI on the playplace is generational, seed for the crop.
The issue with that, of course, is that the benefits accrue to corporate and maybe franchises as a whole as costs ar born by individual playplace-operating franchisees. Automated/cheaper cleaning and sanitation seem like a good thing for corporate to invest in.

The point of the prize is to stop destructive wildfires, not all wildfires. Yes, burns should happen, but they should be controlled and planned. Spontaneous random fires are bad for everyone.
