If โฆ20,000 could say something right now, I wonder how many stories it would tell.
It could tell you about the person who worked all week just to earn it,
And how that amount that might look small to someone else could mean a lot
To them because they already know exactly where every naira needs to go.
It could tell you about the person who received it and immediately started dividing it in their head between food, transport, data,
And that one small thing they had been trying to sort out for days.
Or the person who sent it away almost as soon as it arrived because there was someone at home
Who needed it for an emergency, a bill, or simply because things had become a little too difficult to handle alone.
For a lot of people, making money has never been easy.
You earn it, spend it, earn it again, and just when you think you can finally breathe, there is another bill waiting,
Another responsibility you forgot to budget for, or another reason that money has to leave your hands.
Then the internet changed something.
People discovered that work did not always have to come from the person living next door or the company down the street.
You could create something, sell something, work with someone thousands of miles away,
And get paid for value you created from your own corner of the world.
Then Web3 opened another door.
People who had never imagined earning beyond their local economy could now work online,
Contribute to communities, build digital products, create content, and receive payments in dollars or crypto.
For some people, that was a completely different kind of opportunity.
But then came another question.
What happens when the money you worked so hard to earn is sitting in crypto, while the life you are trying to take care of still runs on naira?
Because your landlord wants naira.
The market wants naira.
Your transport fare wants naira.
The person you need to help back home probably does not care that your USDT is sitting safely in a wallet.
So now, after finding a way to earn, you have to find a reliable way to actually use what you earned.
And that part has not always been easy either.
You could spend time looking for someone to exchange with, compare rates, worry about whether the person you are dealing with can be trusted,
And still wonder if there is a simpler way to get your money where it needs to go.
That is where
@Monicanigeria caught my attention.
Monica is built around something that sounds simple,
But matters a lot when you are the person who worked for that money in the first place:
Helping you turn supported crypto into naira and withdraw it directly to your Nigerian bank account.
Because the story should not end when you finally get paid.
The money still has somewhere to go.
It might become the food in your kitchen, the data on your phone, the transport that gets you to work,
The bill you have been postponing, the money you send home, or the small breathing room you have been waiting for all month.
And maybe that is what makes money such an interesting story.
The same โฆ20,000 can mean completely different things to different people,
But behind every amount is usually a reason someone worked for it, needed it, sent it, saved it, or spent it.
Money moves because life moves.
And as the way we earn money keeps changing, the way we move and use it should keep getting easier too.
That, to me, is another chapter of The Money Story.
