If you lived in Jesus' time, it was wrong to eat pork. It's not now. So, commandments and thus sin can change.
Things like this are one of the biggest reasons I’m not Catholic. Not this in particular but the idea that sin/heresy is based on what time period of the church you lived in

It's a rule to keep separate from neighbors. It's not relativism.

Commandments and the definitions of sin can change, when ordained by God. No human institution has the power to define new sins. For example, eating meat on Friday has never been a sin.

It was never a sin for me, as a Gentile, to eat pork. It was a sin for the Israelites to do it for a time though. And now it isn’t!

At no point was it wrong and sinful for gentiles to eat pork

Or maybe the commandment was because nobody could properly prepare pork and Lord was protecting His people.

The consumption of pork was never considered part of the moral law, nor was it sinful for people not under the Torah to eat pork. The Epistle Barnabas does a good job at connecting the dots between the old and new imo.

Jesus Christ fulfilled all the ceremonial/cleanlinesss laws issuing in a new covenant. Did he show up again and change the covenant again or something?

That's a simple one. What if your brother dies without producing a male heir? What do you need to do then if nothing ever changed?

Was it wrong/sinful for Gentiles in Jesus's time to eat pork? Or was it only wrong for Jews because of their covenant relationship with God?

It wasn't sinful to eat pork; it made you ritually unclean.

If you lived in Jesus's time AND were Jewish, it was wrong to eat pork, because the scriptures said pork was unclean FOR the Jewish people (in Lev 11:7-8 and Deut 14:7-8). Scripture does not say the are unclean/sinful to eat for gentiles.

No it wasn't, it was never intrinsically wrong to eat Pork; but because of an extrinsic circumstance of the Jews- a ceremonial law they were covenantally bound to, it was evil for them to eat it.

It happened during the apostolic age by NEW PUBLIC REVELATION. Can you see why this is apples and oranges?

Yeah when the Messiah comes and fulfills the law (as it was foretold) and estabilishes a new covenant. Do you guys have somebody like that after Jesus?

The prohibition on pork was lifted in reflection of the opening of the commonwealth of Israel to the Gentiles. New revelation unfolded to beautiful effect, as that element of the Law found fulfillment. What other than whim or convenience explains the example Zoomer refers to?

Kosher laws were for Jews. It was not a sin for a Gentile to eat pork before Christ

Pork is allowed because Jesus decreed that all foods are clean. Not because sin changes with the times fαggot. Heresy is alway a sin.

There were many sins that the early apostles affirmed were still sins, such as fornication, greed, homosexuality, consuming blood etc. so don't pretend that you have a large amount of leeway.

Not after the events of Acts chapters 10, and 15. Read a Bible.

The Old Testament describes a moral law. It’s separate from the law of Israel with its restrictions for the citizens of Israel. It’s separate from the ceremonial law which includes the restrictions of things like eating pork. The only law that remains is the moral law. Christians in the process of sanctification following salvation by grace should refrain from breaking it. This will include avoiding sexual immorality, theft, murder, bearing false witness. It also precludes idols where we are expected to only cling to God. That will never change.

Man, I just got through all the food laws in the OT. OUT OF CONTROL! Can you imagine keeping track of all that stuff in those times. Madness. I’m sure Moses was ready to pass beyond to the next life by the time he was done. My word.

I would argue it is the sin of disobedience. To the law back then, and similarly eating meat on Fridays would be the sin of disobedience to the church.

The commandment didn’t change. Christians just chose to ignore it.

in the forgotten books of eden [me thinks] it says that seth's family didn't eat flour (cuz they were fruitarians) & that's why they didn't cuss; the antichrist's only food is adrenochrome; to match that you have to live only on the blood of christ; so throw the bread out; 😁

And this is why it is important to read and know your scriptures, like when Jesus said the scriptures cannot be broken. Then you can understand the Jewish laws and how they effect us today.

That's got to be the dumbest argument I've ever heard. We can eat pork now because the prohibition against it was part of the ceremonial laws meant to set isreal apart under the old covenant. Not because it was wrong in itself.
