I voted against the DSA resolution authorizing this letter, but the numbers just weren't on my side.
Today, my district office received a suspicious package similar to those sent to other congressional offices across the country. Our office was evacuated, and I’m grateful that my staff is safe. I want to thank the Prince William County Police and Fire Departments, as well as federal law enforcement, for their swift response and professionalism. Political violence and intimidation have no place in our democracy. Those responsible must be held accountable.

Do you know how many committees and debates a terrorist attack would have to go through at DSA before it was approved?

"Motion to mail a package to the congressman's office." "Second." "It has been moved and seconded. Are we ready for the question?" "Point of information: how are we sending it?" "First class." "Motion to amend to certified mail with return receipt." "Point of information: why is this needed?" "It's in the standing rules that all official mailings be sent by certified mail." "Second the amendment." "Point of order: postage isn't in the budget." "Motion to allocate $14.30 from the general fund for postage." "That's over the $10 threshold. It needs to go through the Finance Committee." "Motion to refer to the Finance Committee." "The Finance Committee meets the second Tuesday of the month." "Point of information: is anyone from the Finance Committee here?" "The treasurer is on Zoom." "Point of personal privilege: Zoom can't hear us." "Zoom, you're on mute." "The treasurer says $14.30 is fine." "Point of order: the treasurer can't approve it. The committee has to." "But the committee isn't meeting." "Then it's out of order to discuss the $14.30 at all." "We've been discussing the $14.30 for ten minutes." "Point of order: that discussion was out of order." "The point is well taken. We will continue discussing it." "Motion to discharge the Finance Committee from the question." "That requires a 2/3 vote. Second?" "Second." "All in favor? Opposed? The motion carries. The Finance Committee is discharged." "Motion to allocate $14.30 from the general fund for postage." "Second." "Motion to amend to $15, to account for rounding, taxes, and unexpected fees." "Only one amendment to an amendment is permitted. Is there debate on the $15?" *(Eleven minutes of debate on seventy cents.)* "The ayes have it, $15 is approved." "Point of order: the envelope must bear a union bug per our standing rules." "Motion to suspend the standing rule requiring a union bug." *(6 minutes of heated debate from members of labor working group)* "Point of information: what's in the package?" "An unknown substance." "Point of order: 'unknown' needs to be defined in the minutes." "Motion to amend 'unknown substance' to 'a substance, to be determined by the Substances Working Group.'" "The Substances Working Group meets quarterly." "Motion to call a special meeting with the Substances Working Group to discuss the substance." "Second." "Point of information: what's the notice requirement for a special meeting?" "Seven days in writing." "Motion to table the package until after the special meeting." And so on and so on

Of course every liberal terrorist organization puts a return address and signs an anthrax hoax just to make sure we all know who to blame for it. That’s how educated employed coastal elites roll. They desperately want negative attention because they are so miserable.
