As part of the Vigilance Awareness Campaign–2026 and in pursuance of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) directives, RailTel’s Vigilance Department organised a workshop on “GeM – New Features and Functionalities” at the Corporate Office on 21st September 2026. The session was conducted by Sh. Tushar Agarwal, Trainer, GeM Central Team, who provided insights into the latest features and functionalities of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), with a focus on enabling efficient, transparent and compliant procurement. Considering the significant volume of procurement undertaken through GeM, the workshop assumed much importance in keeping officials abreast of the latest processes, functionalities and best practices on the platform. Speaking on the occasion, CMD RailTel highlighted the importance of providing feedback to GeM authorities on various functionalities including Sellers' rating etc. CVO, RailTel, reiterared the need for integrity, while exercising sound judgement for responsible decision making, while making use of digital public procurement portal and how new features can greatly enhance making the procurement decisions more transparent, to further strengthen efficiency and accountability in RailTel procurement. RailTel participated and demonstrated the advanced ‘BHISHM Cube-R300’ an indigenous, Portable, Mobile Emergency Hospital at a special BHISHM demonstration inaugurated by Hon’ble Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Gandhinagar. The event brought together the Hon’ble Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Shri Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of State for Health Shri Praful Pansheriya, Members of the Council of Ministers, MLAs and senior government officials. The two-day exhibition, being held on 9th and 10th September, is aimed at creating awareness about emergency healthcare services, telemedicine, digital health technologies, advanced logistics and resilient healthcare infrastructure for challenging situations. Developed under the Arogya Maitri initiative and guided by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), Government of India, BHISHM Cube-R300 represents a major leap forward in emergency and disaster-response healthcare. Deployable in less than 12 minutes, the portable hospital can provide emergency treatment to around 300 injured persons simultaneously. Packed into 72 modular mini-cubes, each weighing less than 20 kg, the system is equipped with around 400 medical items, including ventilators, multi-parameter monitors, a mini-lab, surgical equipment, oxygen supply and its own power generation capability. With the ability to provide on-site trauma care, emergency surgery, diagnostics and other life-saving services, BHISHM Cube-R300 can be transported by land, air and sea and even air-dropped in remote areas. The demonstration showcased how technology, digital healthcare and resilient infrastructure can come together to strengthen India’s preparedness for natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies and complex crisis situations. With Gujarat’s extensive coastline, industrial landscape and exposure to cyclones, floods and earthquakes, solutions like BHISHM Cube-R300 the deployment of BHISHM Cube in the state will significantly enhance its capacity to respond to disasters. The event was attended by Senior officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department, including Additional Chief Secretary Shri Rajeev Topno, Health Commissioner (Urban) Dr. Sandhya Bhullar, Health Commissioner (Rural) Dr. Ratankanvar Gadhvi Charan, along with senior officials of the health department, Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and other senior large number of school students also attended the event. RailTel is proud to spearhead nationwide and international deployment activities for the innovative BHISHM Cube under the Government of India’s flagship Aarogya Maitri project. As a technology-driven Navratna CPSE, RailTel leverages its institutional framework and technical expertise, alongside its strategic partner, to support deployment of these portable disaster hospitals for humanitarian assistance and emergency response. Through RailTel, BHISHM Cubes have already been delivered to Maldives, Jamaica, Cuba, Sri Lanka, Cyprus and Venezuela on the directives of Govt of India (Ministry of External Affairs) as a measure of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
