I spend my days in the political bubble of Brussels. Hardly a day passes without someone condemning the extreme right.
The extreme right should indeed be condemned when it is pro-Russian. The last thing Europe needs is an aggressive and self-assertive Russia.
Yet we speak far too little about left-wing extremism - particularly the fusion of far-left politics and Islamism known as Islamoleftism.
What we are witnessing in France - and, to some extent, in Belgium - is a wave of Islamoleftist violence and chaos that can now fairly be described as an intifada.
We recently voted in Strasbourg on stronger measures against “entryism” - the infiltration of society’s institutions by the Muslim Brotherhood.
Who proved to be the Muslim Brotherhood’s friends? The Left, of course. But unfortunately also the Greens and S&D. They opposed these stronger measures.
This campaign against the established order in the heart of Europe must be resolutely opposed. Let us be honest: even if French lycées had just ten pupils per class, were housed in palaces and were equipped with gold-plated taps and leather-bound books, the Islamoleftists would simply find another excuse for rebellion.
The schools are merely the pretext. The target is the social order itself.
La mairie de Limoges incendiée. Quel scandale et quelle tristesse !
