Maya Goren, a dedicated kindergarten teacher at Kibbutz Nir Oz, always strove to give the children an optimal learning environment. She often spent days off, including Saturdays when Israeli schools and kindergartens are closed, organizing the kindergarten and adjusting developmental stimuli.
Her brother Martin wrote: “Maya Goren, my beloved sister, was a rare woman. She was murdered on the seventh of October, the morning of Simchat Torah, by Gazan Nazis, only because she was Jewish. She looked after the kindergarten children of Kibbutz Nir Oz until the very last moment. Maya raised an entire generation of children with love and endless devotion. My wonderful sister, I miss you so much. I love you forever and ever.”
