Make sure you, your family, and your neighbors are aware of your rights in the event of an encounter with an ICE agent or another immigration enforcement agency.

I was filling up gas today in Valley Village and saw that it cost $6.54 per gallon. That is outrageous. Under the Trump Administration, the cost of gas has gone up to an average of $6.28 per gallon in Los Angeles County. CA-29 residents have spent $135 million on gas since Trump’s war in Iran started. @HouseDemocrats and I will work to end Trump’s war in Iran and lower the cost of gas for working families.

We need to advance and prioritize solutions that help students and their families recover from the traumatizing impacts of ICE raids. I introduced the HEART Act to provide mental health services to communities, like mine, who have been forced to bear the burden of ICE's actions. Families have been torn apart, innocent people have been murdered, and people are scarred. The HEART Act will help families heal and communities recover from ICE's cruelty long after ICE is gone.

I secured $660,000 in federal funding to help Metro improve infrastructure for bus stops in the San Fernando Valley and protect bus riders from the hot sun.   Each day, thousands of residents use Metro to travel across the Valley to go to school, commute to work, and run errands. The funding I secured for these improvements will make waiting for a Metro bus safer.   I will continue working in Congress to secure federal funds to strengthen public transportation infrastructure and connect working families to more opportunities.

ICE shot another person this weekend in Austin, Texas. I join my colleagues in calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into this tragedy. This is the eleventh ICE-involved shooting in 2026. This is not a one-off instance, it is a pattern that we cannot allow to continue. ICE is a reckless agency that must be held accountable for the repeated acts of senseless violence in our communities. My heart goes out to the victim, his family, his community, and everyone who has been impacted by ICE's reign of terror.

15 years ago, “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” was officially repealed, allowing LGBTQ+ servicemembers to proudly and openly serve our country.   As a member of the @EqualityCaucus, I will continue working with my colleagues to push back against the Trump Administration's attempts to marginalize our LGBTQ+ servicemembers.

Lowriders are a defining part of Latino culture in the Valley, where I was lucky to grow up in.   As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, I attended the San Fernando Car and Truck Club Council Annual Car Show in Panorama City where I had the opportunity to see all the amazing lowriders on display.   These cars are built with passion and knowledge that is shared between generations. Instead of taking urgent action to address AI, @SpeakerJohnson and @HouseGOP went on vacation until November.   Over 80 @HouseDemocrats and I wrote to Speaker Johnson urging him to keep the House in session so we can take urgent action to address the risks posed by AI.   AI is not slowing down. House Democrats want to ensure AI has the safeguards necessary to work for the American people – not against them.

California has a proud history of holding polluters accountable for the public health harms they are causing to environmental justice communities. Republicans are proposing a resolution that would rescind some of California's key environmental standards so polluters can take advantage of working families. I joined @EnergyCommerce in urging our colleagues to vote NO on Republicans' resolution that will make Americans sicker and poorer.

I am heartbroken to hear about last night’s devastating helicopter crash in Chatsworth. My thoughts go out to the victims’ loved ones and their colleagues at @NBCLA and @TELEMUNDO52. Their commitment to delivering the news to the San Fernando Valley and the greater Los Angeles area will not be forgotten.

Residents across the Valley rely on Metro buses to go to school, commute to work, and go grocery shopping. The weather should not impact how riders get to these resources.   I secured $660,000 in federal funding for L.A. Metro’s Regional Bus Stop Enhancement Program. This funding will help improve safety, accessibility, and riders’ experience.   I’m excited to continue to work with Metro and advocate for key transportation infrastructure upgrades that will connect our communities and improve opportunities for the San Fernando Valley.
