That is why I introduced the Health Coverage Tax Credit Reauthorization Act of 2026, legislation to extend the Health Coverage Tax Credit through January 1, 2030. The Congressional Budget Office projects that the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Act, which I voted for, would reduce premiums by 11% and reduce the deficit by $35.6B through 2035. At the Ohio Defense and Aerospace Forum I moderated a panel of experts including Brigadier General Douglas Wickert, Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Colonel Tyson Wetzel, Commander of the National Air and Space Intelligence (NASIC),and Ms. Cheryl Richmond, Deputy director of the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) discussing homeland defense and the new and evolving threats facing the United States. @WrightPattAFB, the region, and Ohio have a significant role in fostering defense, intelligence, and technological innovation for the nation. 🇺🇸

Ohio is an integral part of our national defense and Monday was the 11th Ohio Defense and Aerospace Forum at @wrightstate University. I am proud of what this forum has achieved and even more excited for what lies ahead. The discussions highlighted not only the challenges we face, but the opportunities Ohio and the Miami Valley have as leaders in national security.

Proud to announce a statewide effort to land the United States Space Academy in Dayton, Ohio. This is where aviation began. Where two bicycle mechanics left the ground at Huffman Prairie and changed the world. Where Ohioans like Neil Armstrong and John Glenn taught America to look up. Where more than two dozen astronauts have called home. Where America’s first astronauts — the Mercury Seven — were put through their final testing in 1959. To this day, America’s astronauts come to @WrightPattAFB for training at the 711th Human Performance Wing, home of the School of Aerospace Medicine and the military’s only human-rated centrifuge. Today, Ohio unites to make our case to bring President Trump’s vision for the Space Academy to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and @wrightstate — the only site with the people, the mission, and the history to secure his legacy. Ohio is the birthplace of flight. Now, we are competing for the opportunity to train the generation that will take America farther into space. Today at the Ohio Defense & Aerospace Forum, I joined Senator @berniemoreno to announce Ohio’s effort to bring the new U.S. Space Academy to @WrightPattAFB. The vision would build on the extraordinary capabilities already concentrated here in the Miami Valley — connecting Wright-Patt, @wrightstate University, and a community at the forefront of space intelligence, aerospace research, engineering, and national defense. The Wright brothers changed the world from Dayton. More than a century later, Ohio has an opportunity to build on that legacy by preparing the astronauts, scientists, engineers, and national-security professionals who will shape America’s future in space.

On September 17th, 1859, Abraham Lincoln delivered a speech at the Old Courthouse in Dayton, Ohio for two hours. Today, a statue of Lincoln stands tall at Courthouse Square downtown. This speech, this visit to Ohio, was a turning point for his political career. Just over a year later, he was elected the 16th president of the United States, ending slavery and preserving the union. Today is Constitution Day. Written in 1787, ratified in 1788, and becoming active in 1789, ours is the oldest and longest-surviving Constitution still in effect in the world today. It's the foundation of everything we've been able to accomplish as a nation, and it's the reason America remains the freest and most prosperous country in the world.

After a tremendous amount of work to impose stronger sanctions and sustained pressure on Vladimir Putin, the House just passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, legislation I worked to advance as an original cosponsor. This bill significantly increases economic pressure on Moscow. Putin can change the flag on an oil tanker, but he cannot change where its cargo came from, and he cannot hide forever from the consequences. The legislation targets Russia’s shadow fleet and sanctions-evasion networks and gives President Trump new authority to impose tariffs on major purchasers of Russian energy. Once signed into law, it will make the economic consequences of prolonging this war harder for Putin to evade while increasing the pressure for negotiations that could bring Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to an end. Today, the House passed my bill to rename the Xenia Post Office to the “Gil Whitney Post Office Building.” When an F5 tornado struck Xenia in 1974, Gil Whitney, a local broadcaster, broke into programming to warn residents, identifying neighborhoods directly in the tornado’s path and giving families time to seek shelter. More than 50 years later, Xenia remembers the courage he displayed when it mattered most.

For more than four years, Russia’s war has taken a devastating human toll, countless lives lost, millions displaced, communities reduced to rubble and destabilized economies far beyond Ukraine’s borders. Russia is only able to continue this war because countries continue to buy cheap Russian energy. The economic lifelines that keep the Kremlin’s war machine running must be restricted. This legislation gives us the opportunity to strike at those networks, to impose real consequences on Russia and those who continue financing Putin’s war machine. Now is the time for action.
