For too long, the heroic men and women of the West Athens Fire Company have had to work out of a tiny, outdated firehouse – making an already difficult job even harder. Today, that changes. We just cut the ribbon on a brand-new fire station on Lime Street that will give our first responders more space to train, improve emergency response time, and serve as a disaster shelter for our community. I was proud to secure $1,015,000 to help build this firehouse and invest in the folks who dedicate so much to keep us safe.

It was great to stop by Alvogen Day in Norwich last week, where hundreds of volunteers spent their day working on community services projects and cleaning up downtown. Dedicating this year’s work to 9/11 victims and their families was a powerful reminder of what community is all about.
