✅Building the global evidence base to accelerate SDG localization. As the world looks towards the 2027 SDG Summit, demonstrating the impact of SDG localization is just as important as delivering it. Stronger territorial evidence is essential to shape policy, guide investment and systematically embed local priorities into national and global agendas. The Global Stocktake on SDG Localization is bringing together decade of experience into a shared evidence base for SDG localization. Through harmonized indicators, country solutions and foresight analysis, it will inform the process of the Local2030 Coalition as well as the Inter-agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators, ultimately shaping the design of the post-2030 development framework. Building on the momentum of #WUF13, this process was advanced at #HLPF2026 where UN-Habitat co-organized the Towards a Global Stocktake on SDG Localisation – Achieving SDG 11 through a Territorial Approach with the OECD and the United Nations Local2030 Coalition and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 🌎 Regional Governments shaping territorial transformation and SDG delivery. From strengthening multilevel governance and participatory decision-making to territorial innovation ecosystems and living labs, regional governments are both drivers of implementation and political actors shaping sustainable development. This message came through strongly at #HLPF2026 during “From Local to Global: Regions Driving Multi-Level Action for the SDGs and the Water-Energy Nexus”, bringing to the forefront practical ways to improve territorial governance, connect policy across sectors, and accelerate coordinated action across all levels of government. Connecting Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) 📕 Voluntary Subnational Reviews (VSRs) 📘 and Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) 📗 is essential to strengthening multilevel governance and turning global commitments into results in cities, municipalities and communities. At #HLPF2026, the discussions highlighted how local and subnational reviews can bring territorial evidence into national decision-making, identify implementation gaps, guide priorities, and better connect policy with budgets, financing and bankable projects.
