So far, this storm is a reminder that weathermen exist to make economists look good.

🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Kylian Mbappé used his new On boots for the first time in a match. He scored a goal in them already; sadly, he got injured.

Reading Eurasia Groups summary of Xi's state visit. Imagine telling someone in 2017 or 2018 that Trump would be the most China-dovish President we'd see for the rest of our lives.

Dear Global Citizens, Due to the extreme weather forecast for New York City this weekend, we have made the difficult decision, in consultation with the City of New York and NYC Parks, to cancel this year’s Global Citizen Festival. Forecasts predict dangerous conditions and circumstances in which we cannot safely bring tens of thousands of Global Citizens, artists, crew, vendors, partners, and staff onto the Great Lawn, let alone all of the equipment required. Safety has to come first. This is the first time in 14 years we’ve had to cancel. We have spent this week working through countless contingencies, which were ultimately not possible, and cancelling is a decision we have not taken lightly.

Matt's recent pieces suggesting that rising yields are a reflection of benign and even favorable US economic trends have been great counters to the more concerning narratives
New at THE OVERSHOOT: The Fed Finally Gets It theovershoot.co/p/the-fed-fi… Tariffs, Hormuz, and fiscal policy are not good reasons to hike. The underlying growth trend and the asymmetric sensitivity of private sector spending to the level of interest rates are. Plus: margin debt!

Trump 2015: “I would not be throwing him (Xi Jinping) a dinner… I’d get him a McDonald's hamburger and I’d say we gotta get down to work because you can’t continue to devalue (the Chinese currency).” Trump in 2026 showing Xi a photograph of himself hanging in the White House: “We have a lot of respect for you….we’ve had that up for a year. A lot of respect.”
“Who is that? I don’t recognize him!” 🤣 @POTUS shows President Xi their photo hanging in the West Wing

It makes me happy how high Veep, Atlanta, and The Leftovers are on this list. Those shows are so messed up and good, and not enough people have watched them. I'd squeeze Friday Night Lights into the top 5.
NYT's best shows of the 21st century. The top 2 are about running businesses.
