WORLD TOURISM DAY 2026
Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism
Today, I celebrate tourism with a deep sense of gratitude, and an even stronger sense of responsibility.
Having spent much of my life working in and advocating for tourism, I have seen its power to change lives. I have seen communities find opportunity through tourism, young people discover careers, businesses grow, and our natural and cultural heritage gain the value and protection it deserves.
This year’s theme challenges us to think differently.
Technology and Artificial Intelligence are changing tourism, and we must be ready to change with it.
For me, the opportunity is not simply about using AI because it is the future. It is about asking how we can use it to tell our stories better, open our destinations to the world, create opportunities for our people and make every visitor experience more meaningful.
Uganda has so much to share with the world. Our wildlife, mountains, rivers, forests, cultures, food and, most importantly, our people.
I believe our next chapter must be about connecting these treasures with the possibilities that technology offers, without losing the authenticity and human connection that make travel special.
The future of tourism should be digital, but it must remain human.
On this World Tourism Day, my hope is that we embrace innovation with courage, while keeping people, communities, conservation and our identity at the heart of tourism.
The Pearl of Africa has a beautiful story to tell.
Let us use the tools of tomorrow to tell it to the world.
Happy World Tourism Day 2026.
