he First Amendment does not give any news organization a constitutional right to attend presidential news conferences or enter White House grounds. The President is not required to hold press events at all, and he can choose whom he personally interviews or calls on. How many substantive briefings did Joe Biden host? LOL. In 2013, numerous news organizations protested restrictions by the Obama White House that sometimes prevented independent photographers from covering presidential events while the White House released its own photographs.
During the Biden administration, there were documented restrictions on press access:
* In 2022, reporters complained that Biden White House officials were selectively approving journalists for some presidential events; the New York Post and Salon were among outlets whose reporters reported being denied access.
In 2023, the Biden White House denied New York Post correspondent Steven Nelson credentials for a Biden event.
The Biden White House also warned reporter Simon Ateba that he could lose his press access because of repeated disruptions during briefings.
