Our feature artist/tutorial today is this FANTASTIC IDEA on helping draw HEAD TURNAROUNDS, by the talented @MattWilliames! By first drawing an ACCURATE overhead view, you can ROTATE to help you find the placement of the FEATURES at the head rotates - GENIUS!

Shoutout to this developer, who built a fully functional AR iPhone Duo simulator you can explore and interact with on Apple Vision Pro.
Stuff like this shows just how underrated this device is.
I’ve been in headset daily the past 3 months developing a spatial 3D modeling app. The weight gets noticeable. I also will remove the light shield and use a piece of foam on the bridge of my nose when I don’t need to be fully immersed. We already deal with the external battery puck, and I am all for moving the compute to it. This is the way. @johnternus@Apple
The internal pushback against an external compute puck feels like classic Apple perfectionism getting in the way of basic physics... You simply cannot have dual 4K micro-OLEDs active cooling, high end sensors and a multi-hour battery on someone's face under 250 grams without offloading components... An external puck in your pocket is a far better UX than a 600 gram headset resting on your cheeks!
First time trying out the iPhone Duo simulator in Xcode 27.1! Very cool. I used Claude to create a portfolio app from my ArtStation page, just to see if I could do it. Can't wait to get my hands on this new form factor - so many ideas for the folding screen alone.
I'm mostly known for Apple Vision Pro work.
But I keep some spare time for Apple's other new toys.
iPhone Duo is one of them: 8 small demos exploring what an app should do closed, at 90°, at 120° and open.
RealityKit + SwiftUI, off-axis 3D across the fold. 👇
Device Hub in Xcode 27.1 has a hidden Action Bar specifically for iPhone Duo.
It gives you a lot more control over the device angle, and you can quickly switch between 5 device poses with keyboard shortcuts. There’s also a “Table Mode” control.
To enable:
defaults write com\.apple.dt.Devices com\.apple.dt.coredevicepop.useInternalV68ActionBar -bool true
and restart Device Hub.
The iPhone Duo simulator also comes with a hidden HingeStatePoster wallpaper.
The big takeaway for those working with visionOS these last few years. Reality Composer Pro 3 is a **scene authoring tool for RealityKit**, not a USD editor like v1 and 2.

Blender 5.3 will include native gaussian splatting with PLY and SPZ v4 file support across Workbench, EEVEE, and Cycles.
The current alpha runs until September 30th, before its expected release on November 10th.
Juan Moya is starting a new series on Step Into Vision to explore making a game with Reality Composer Pro 3. The first episode is out now.
