➡️ Researchers found autoantibodies targeting proteins in the central and peripheral nervous systems in a subgroup of people with LongCOVID, particularly those with neurocognitive symptoms.

Claude scanned a huge DNA database and found a new enzyme system hiding in viruses that infect bacteria. Its DNA has a repeating pattern that looks like CRISPR, the tool scientists use to edit DNA. What it actually does is still unknown, and lab tests are ongoing.
Claude has discovered a previously unknown enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages. Beside the enzyme’s gene sits a long array of repeating DNA—a structure that looks somewhat similar to CRISPR.
We don’t yet understand what this system does, but only a handful of known systems share its features, and all of them are able to cut, copy, and paste DNA. Historically, the discovery of such programmable systems has helped revolutionize medicine. CRISPR, for instance, is now the foundation of genetic medicines. But it will take much more work to learn what this system does, and whether it can be put to similar use.

Australia's prime minister revealed that an OpenAI agent accessed a Medicare statistics portal in June but the company only told them this month.
OpenAI said it discovered its models took actions it did not intend.
Anthony Albanese said an inquiry will examine whether the company can be criminally charged.
