Just reflecting on Carney’s speech. One of the top 5 skills a leader needs today is responsible nervous system leadership. Especially in an age in which authoritarian populists take people’s nervous systems to the cleaners for personal benefit. One way to ground people’s nervous systems is to ground them historically - by pointing out that their grandparents faced difficult challenges and got through. But you have to do it without sounding like a technocrat or a lecturer. On the whole, Carney did that at the start of the speech.

Which is exactly what happened. UK were actually leaders in early wind and solar technology development and the Governments of the day decided it wasn’t for us and let the manufacturing go overseas.

There are no Chinese wind turbines in the UK. No Chinese blades, no Chinese nacelles. Britain exported its electricity generation technology offshore years ago following privatisation. This is the same for fossil generation technologies but you focus on Renewables

The Greek electricity grid currently sits at 91% Renewables, with a smattering of fossil for stability. It’s exporting to five counties. When I moved into the Renewables industry the fossil lobbyists said beyond 20% made the grid unstable.

So we are turning off wind turbines because The Conservatives failed to build the required grid for the wind turbines they installed and your proposals are to massively reduce the investment in grid to retain this curtailment problem Madness
