Holocaust Distortion from U.N. “Expert”: Francesca Albanese claims Jews in Nazi death camps “were called Muslims.” Antisemitism targets “Semitic peoples” and “not just discrimination against Jews.” Even in Nazi death camps: She cannot name Jew-hatred without replacing the Jews.

Full Interview: youtu.be/zxrCercj9BQ?si=IzV9… ALBANESE: “Anti-Semitism, as I often say, exists; it’s a scourge; it’s discrimination—not just against Jews, but against Semitic peoples. When the term “anti-Semitism” was first coined, it referred to anyone who wasn’t European and came from the Middle East. Jews were Semites; they were considered a Semitic people by the Nazis and the fascists of Europe in the last century. And so, yes, since that was by far the largest group present in Europe, anti-Semitism came to be equated with the concept of anti-Judaism; however, today it is understood as hatred toward Jews. You said that, in reality, the concept of anti-Semitism is broader. In fact, when they were taken to the gas chambers, there are some testimonies about life in the concentration camps that mention how Jews were referred to as “Muslims.” So there was a racist hatred toward non-whites, the “impure,” and non-Christians, which eventually crystallized into antisemitism as hatred toward Jews; and hatred toward Jews simply because they are Jews does exist, it is extremely serious and must not be confused with criticism of the State of Israel, which has nothing to do with the religion Israel professes, but with what Israel does, with the crimes Israel commits. I am absolutely not interested in—that is, the religious aspect has no significance for me—on the contrary, there is freedom of worship both for Judaism and for the other religions of Palestine. But that is not the issue. Today, the issue of anti-Semitism is being used and exploited to silence the debate regarding Israel’s crimes, because Israel presents itself as a Jewish state, setting itself up as the defender and representative of all Jews.”

Take note: Francesca Albanese in this interview is not explaining antisemitism; she is completely rewriting its meaning, and in the process distorting the history of the Holocaust. Her remarks reveal astonishing ignorance, and malice. First, Antisemitism was not coined to describe hatred of “Semitic peoples,” or of Middle Easterners whom Europeans regarded as foreign. When Wilhelm Marr introduced the term in 1879, he meant hostility to Jews, expressed it in the racial language of his time. “Semitic” denotes a family of languages. It does not make antisemitism a general category of prejudice that can be reassigned to other peoples. Second, the Nazis likewise targeted Jews as Jews. They did not begin, as Albanese suggests, with a broad campaign against “the non-white, the impure, the non-Christian” that later happened to “crystallize” into hatred of Jews. Her account takes a campaign of extermination directed at Jews and makes its victims sound interchangeable. Third, Albanese's claim about Jews being called “Muslims” as they were taken to the gas chambers is especially grotesque. Primo Levi, who survived Auschwitz, explained that Muselmann was camp slang for “the irreversibly exhausted, worn-out prisoner, close to death.” It described a prisoner’s condition. It did not mean the Nazis regarded Jews as Muslims, or sent them to the gas chambers under that identity. Indeed, Albanese’s theory cannot explain why Hitler welcomed and collaborated with Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem. The two met in Berlin in 1941, and the Nazi regime financed the Mufti’s antisemitic broadcasts to Muslim audiences. The SS enlisted the Mufti to help recruit Bosnian Muslims into its Handschar division. Addressing the division’s imams, he called Nazi Germany their ally and identified “World Jewry” as a common enemy. That is the historical record Albanese’s theory cannot accommodate: Nazi leaders recruited Muslims to their cause while pursuing the extermination of Jews. Criticism of Israeli policy requires none of these falsehoods. Albanese first stretches antisemitism until it ceases to identify hatred of Jews, then claims that invoking it is a device to “silence debate.” Her argument depends on stripping the word of its meaning before dismissing those who use it. This is the same Francesca Albanese who wrote in an open letter to her family priest that America was “subjugated by the Jewish lobby.” Only when later confronted, she called her words “infelicitous, analytically inaccurate and unintendedly offensive.” Yet now she offers a definition under which antisemitism is no longer specifically hatred of Jews. How convenient. These remarks distorting the Holocaust and the meaning of Jew hatred are appalling from anyone. From a United Nations human rights mandate holder, they demand a public answer. We are calling on all UN member states to denounce Albanese’s distortion of antisemitism and the Holocaust. In particular, we are calling on the member nations of the Human Rights Council—including France, UK, Netherlands, Italy, Czechia, Slovenia, Estonia, Switzerland, Colombia, Spain, and Brazil—to speak out. The Council must not allow someone speaking under its authority to erase the identity of the Jews murdered by the Nazis.

Hey @grok what’s the etymology of the word antisemitism? Also, were Jews ever called Muslims in the Nazi death camps?

In the concentration camps there was an internal jargon used by the victims themselves. Heavily emaciated people who seemed close to dying were indeed often called "Musulmanen", but this had nothing to do with actual Muslims, but instead referred to their physical state.

Clearly, she knows nothing about history. The photo shows Amin al-Husseini—the leading Palestinian leader of the 20th century, who helped the Nazis to form units of Muslim soldiers for the Waffen-SS during World War II—with Hitler.

Building on the discriminatory way the inaccurate term "anti-semite" has been used just for Jews to shut down the facts about the P/I conflict. Decades of purposeful mis-use. Nauseating, dangerous, criminal. Palestinians are semites as many have been pointing out for decades

"Semitic peoples" broadly rather than Jews specifically rewrites what the term actually means and has always meant since it was coined in the 1870s, specifically to target Jews. A UN official assigned to human rights work reaching for that redefinition, in reference to the Holocaust, isn't a minor linguistic slip.

She can't admit that Jews are semites She says Europeans called middle easterners semites and that Europeans and Nazis "considered" Jews semites i.e. she can't acknowledge Jews are semites cause that implies Jews originated in Israel Clever sleight of hand

She symbolises the state of the UN and it's many branches. In the past and still the UN and it's branches do and did great work but the corruption and people with bad intentions have made it rotten from the inside out.

There are no 'Semitic peoples'. Just languages. And antisemitism was coined as purely Jew hatred by a German Jew hater.

Like many gifted propagandists she stirs a semi-fact into the rubbish. It is true that SOME Jewish inmates of Nazi camps were called « Muselmänner“. The term means „muslim“ in Yiddish, but it denoted those people close to death who had given up all will to live. Only that.

Before rewriting Holocaust history, learn it. Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, openly collaborated with Nazi Germany, met Hitler in 1941, spread antisemitic propaganda and helped recruit Muslim fighters for the Axis. These are documented historical facts. Jews murdered in Nazi death camps were Jews. Playing semantic games about ‘Semitic peoples’ does not change that reality. Stop distorting history.

Yeah, not at all, this is pure invention. Hitler hated both Judaism and Christianity (though he didn’t much mention the Christianity but he knew it came from Judaism and didn’t like it, too much weakness and compassion for him). On the other hand he very much admired Islam and also Hinduism and pagan nature beliefs.

So if Jews and Arabs are both semitic ethnic groups, then all the slogans about Jews being "European colonizers" and "white supremacists" are lies? Well, you can't be racist to someone from the same racial group, right?

"Musselmanner" was the derisive term the Nazis used for concentration camp prisoners on the verge of death doe to being starved and worked to exhaustion. There were essentially no Muslims in the camps. The term was _not_ used to equate of Jews and Muslims.

That would explain why Hitler put Hajj Amin al-Husseini in a death camp following al-Husseini's meeting with Hitler. Oh wait. That didn't happen. histclo.com/essay/war/ww2/co… Quote

This is not new, this act has been repeated in the history. Stop bullying Israel. Shame on those who, under the disguise of “human rights,” undermine and vilify the very people actually fighting for human rights. Pay attention to who is fighting for freedom and who is merely using the language of freedom to attack them. Wake up, America. #BIBIJOON
