"Wilfred" is an Anglo-Saxon name meaning "He who wants peace," derived from Germanic roots meaning "will" and "peace" "Gimble" is quite obscure. I believe it might be Norman in origin, or else a variant of the German "Gimbel." Although the latter has some obscene connotations...

I wasn't sure if @FrankAWeatherly's provisional radio budget would pass, but if Roger misses the meeting on account of his Amputation, we might get it through by the skin of our teeth.

There’s a meal in our house called Mr Scrummy. I invented it when my two eldest were 4 and 6 and money was snug at the end of the month. The kids are still obsessed with it to this day. Mr Scrummy has a sort of sentinent ommipresence in the household. We refer to him as ‘him’.

Hello everyone, on the advice of @DrBrianHammond1 and having more companionship, I have decided I’m going to take on a pet! But I need suggestions. I fear I’m too old to look after a dog, I’m thinking maybe a tortoise though? What do people think.

Lovely news Rupert. Never underestimate the joy a dog can bring to your life. Mervin has been with us for 13 years and he's been a blessing.
