All this demagoguery about “Russia is not my enemy” will end very quickly when Russia turns your home into a pile of rubble, turns the places you love into graveyards, and Putin, with his idiotic smirk and chuckling, starts rambling about what an incredible threat your “fake country” posed and how he was “forced” to wage a war of annihilation against you to “correct the mistakes of history” inside his head.
They won’t ask whether you considered Russia an enemy or not. They won’t ask whether you wanted the war or not. They will call you a “Nazi” and commit the most insane war crimes with a profound sense of moral superiority and enjoyment.

Unfortunately, Jennifer is not correct. Last year, Russia exported roughly 2.5 million tons of Diesel per year. The gulf states exported roughly 3.19 tons PER month.
There is an effect from the Ukraine campaign, but it is roughly 7% global supply.

Who would have believed that toppling Assad could have stopped the refugee outflow?
Who would have believed that the dictator who chose to burn his country - with everything he had, from barrel bombs to Scuds & chemical weapons - was the main reason pushing Syrians to flee?
The paralysis of the intl community, coupled with massive Iranian & Russian support, only prolonged one of the biggest crises of the century - fueling anti-refugee sentiment from Lebanon to Turkey & in Europe, where the far right has steadily gained ground.
And had Rebels not ultimately taken matters into their own hands, Europe would still be facing large-scale refugee arrivals.
Irregular crossings by Syrians into the EU continue to decrease since Assad's fall.
Before December 2024, @Frontex detected around 4,000 Syrians a month at the EU's external borders. In 2025, the monthly average was 511. So far in 2026, it's 169.
In April 2026, Frontex recorded just 75 detections, the lowest monthly figure since May 2011. The 2025 total of 6,126 was the lowest annual figure since 2011, and well below even the COVID year of 2020 (21,631). Detections in January–July 2026 were down 66% on the same period of 2025 and 95% on 2024.
July did tick up to 373, mostly on the Aegean sea route, but this likely reflects seasonality, since more crossings happen in the summer months. Crossings also rose over summer 2025, and they remain a fraction of pre-transition levels.
This is what researchers have long argued: conflict, not poverty, is the main driver of irregular migration. Syria is still one of the poorest countries in the world. Yet once the immediate threat of violence and arbitrary detention receded, so did the impulse to risk a deadly crossing.
The transition has not made Syria prosperous quite yet. But it may have made it survivable, and for many, that is enough to stay.

New UN report on calls out alleged US and Iranian war crimes.
"Following the United States and Israeli attacks on 28 February, the mission found reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed the war crime of launching indiscriminate attacks resulting in the loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects," the fact-finding team said in a statement. It said the school in Minab was "clearly identifiable."

This is just a fragment of the absolutely nightmarish stuff from the just-released UN report on sexual violence in Russia's invasion of Ukraine:
• Violations detailed in the report include rape, gang rape, genital mutilation, electric shocks, and genital beating
• Russian forces are responsible for the vast majority of sexual violence in Ukraine
• The majority of victims are Ukrainian men. In a common form of torture against Ukrainian POWs detailed in the report, Russian forces electrocuted men's genitals using tasers or a Soviet-era military field telephone known as a 'tapik.'
• Women and children, primarily in Ukrainian territory occupied by Russian forces, also fell victim to rapes and sexual assault. The youngest documented rape survivor was a four-year-old girl, and the oldest was an 82-year-old woman, with both cases perpetrated by Russian forces.
