The Great Liquidation
The screen of my banking app was glowing in the dark van, a pathetic little window into my own survival. £12,453. It wasn't wealth. It was just time. Time to buy food, time to keep the van on the road, time to stay out of their reach.
Then, the notification pinged…a sound like a digital guillotine.
“URGENT: National Stability Contribution. 50% Bail-In authorised under Emergency War Powers Act. Balance adjusted.”
I watched the digits flicker. £6,226.50.
Just like that. Half of everything I’d worked for, half of my ability to exist outside their system, vanished into the ether. It didn't go to a thief in an alleyway. It went to the "War Effort." It went to fund the machinery that is currently tearing the world apart.
"It’s not a theft, Gob," I said, my voice shaking with a cold, hollow rage. "It’s a liquidation. They’ve spent the last six years building the legal framework…the 'fake' laws, the emergency decrees, the digital banking bypasses…all to ensure that when the war started, they wouldn't have to ask for your money. They could just reach into your account and take it."
Dave was pacing the length of the van, his claws clicking on the metal floor…a restless, rhythmic sound of impending conflict. He knew. You don't have to be a genius to smell a predator in the room.
"Think about it," I said, looking at the travellers. "A six-year world war. That’s not a conflict; that’s an industry. And the fuel for that industry is your savings, your pension, your hard-earned 'time.'
They’ve engineered the laws to make us broke, making us entirely dependent on the state for our next meal. When you have nothing, you’ll do anything. That’s the setup."
The "Bail-In" isn't a financial term anymore. It’s a weapon of mass impoverishment. It’s the final stage of the Uncoupling…only this time, they’re the ones doing the uncoupling. They’re uncoupling you from your resources.
"They want us desperate. They want us fighting over the scraps of what they didn't manage to liquidate. But we see the ledger, and we see the laws they used to hide the theft."
I closed the app. The number didn't matter anymore. The money was already gone the moment they decided they owned the rules.
"They’ve taken half my money," I said, looking into the eyes of the travellers. "But they didn't take my resolve. And that’s the one thing they can’t liquidate."
Prepare for the liquidation.
