Could the US stop changing clocks? ⏰ The House of Representatives is voting on a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent across most of the U.S. If it passes, it would need to be approved by the Senate before going to the President. If the Sunshine Protection Act became law and a state chose to remain on daylight saving time, winter mornings would be darker, with sunrises pushed an hour later. On Jan. 15, sunrise and sunset times would look something like this: In Miami, the sun would rise at 8:09 a.m. and set at 6:51 p.m. In Boston, sunrise would happen at 8:10 a.m., with sunset at 5:36 p.m. Farther west, Kansas City would see the sun rise at 8:35 a.m. and set at 6:19 p.m. In Billings, Montana, sunrise would occur at 8:51 a.m., with sunset at 5:56 p.m. In Los Angeles, sunrise would happen just before 8 a.m. and sunset shortly after 6 p.m. PT. Daylight saving time is currently observed by most of the U.S. from March into November. In 2026, clocks sprang forward on March 8. Clocks are scheduled to fall back on Nov. 1, when most of the country returns to standard time.

We needed to lock in Permanent Standard Time. Permanent Daylight Savings has been tried & failed every time. The time change twice a year is awful, but DST in the winter will be brutal. Waste of time and money, it will be repealed… again.

Permanent DST is exactly wrong. We should be going back to permanent Standard Time.

DST in winter makes many kids go to school in the dark. It was tried years ago and failed miserably! We need year round STANDARD time!!

America already did this in 1973 and hated it. Stop changing our clocks, and messing with our circadian rhythm. Permanent Standard Time is the only sensible solution.

Go to permanent standard time please. I don't want to be in the dark all morning for four months because people are conflating their love of summer with loving DST

Look at some of those sunrises if this passes. Since Congress created DST, they should end it not make it permanent!!

I hate DST. Make standard time permanent. I don’t like the Sun to be shining at 9:00pm and then it be dark at 8:00 am.

This would be horrible! If anything when we fall back stay on that time bc it IS The ORIGINAL TIME! I wish they would worry about what is needed dealt with. It's proven we DON'T Need Daylight Saving Time anymore. We keep trying to change what God put in place

If they vote in permanent DST, Indiana better change to the central time zone. Otherwise, the sun won’t be coming up until after 9 AM in the winter time. Ridiculous!

So how about giving us the sunrise and sunset on January 15 using daylight savings for comparison I think that would be fair

It's completely retarded that humans have lived with just regular time for almost 2 million years and suddenly they argue over how set a clock? Humans are designed, like all life on our planet, to wake and sleep in rhythm with the sun - not some idiot politician in Washington DC!

You know what’s really cool about retirement? Forgetting the clock and living by the natural rhythm of sunrise and sunset.

Permanent DST was already tried and it failed so badly it was repealed. Just give us permanent standard time already.

Some States have already been smart enough to have elementary school start at 9 am. I'm sick of the "but muh kids" argument.

I'm stuck inside a fluorescent lit building from 7 -4. Making DST permanent means I'll have 1 more hour of sun after work..Very helpful during winter.

It will tank our health! It is government made and imposed. Standard is closest to Solar time and our natural circadian rhythms. There is a reason the majority of the world runs on Standard

Congress are a bunch of fools. First they ignore science. Second they ignore the people. Third they are messing with time instead of passing the Save Act.
