Biggest sign of poor bile function: - Cant digest fat - Skin issues - Low stomach acid - Floating stool - Pale stool - Itch attacks around eating - Fat in the toilet - Constipation (this almost always resolves once bile is restored) - Low fat soluble uptake - Pain under the right ribs

Great thread! The greatest sign of intelligence in the health community is being able to distance yourself from DOGMA. The obsession and idolization of health leaders is cringe and ghey. I have so much respect for Peat, but the anon zealots in that community are toxic af.
Ray Peat was wrong about a lot. Here are 10 of the big ones, why, and what else the community often gets wrong, misrepresents, or overlooks:

Its so difficult to heal inside of a moldy environment. Gut issues, autoimmune, skin issues, insomnia, sinus issues, depression, brain fog, etc. mold might be a major piece Since so many are dealing with this, I am giving my 10 ways to mitigate mold pdf.

sold our home and leased. I kept getting sicker and sicker esp bc I worked out of house. This was eventually found n hvac by inspections (3). Finally got out, I paid to hv HVAC inspection on new lease and it’s worse than house before, as am I. Temp housing awful too. Prayers🙏

Love this, proof of gut health being downstream of triggers like mold. Before you pop another antimicrobial, pop open your HVAC for me and let me know how much mold is in there. You wont fix your gut until you address your mold issues.
Exactly what happened to me , ran so many protocols and barely moved the needle. Had HVAC checked and it was filled with mold. Getting out has done more than any protocol so far

Colonic motility is dpenednt on your circidan rythmn! - The colon closes up shop at night - Waking triples its activity - Meals double its activity If your constipated get morning light and eat breakfast. Your goal post is how soon you make a BM after waking.

Got my mom on @quicksilversc progesterone and having my dad taking some when needed. He tells me "oh this stuff is amazing, I use it for sleep its like taking a xanax!" Funny analogy considering he has never taken xanax, so I guess it means it really works for him

Estrogen dominance is a major component of my coaching. One of the reasons is how excess estrogen blocks bile flow. Bile is vitality, and without proper bile flow, we dont digest fats well, keep the microbiome in check, excrete toxins, etc. Often why you see estrogen dominance with toxin load!

I see this play out with all my mold clients. Mold creates: food sensitivities, skin issues, chronic gut issues like constipation/loose stool, estrogen dominance, horrible brain fog, depression, weight gain, edema, the list goes on and on. I have never met a person who has healed these issues without addressing mold first. It doesnt matter what diet, or how many gut protocols you run, you gotta address the mold!
Mold is a huge problem and I’m happy to see more people talking about it recently I’m going to write a long post/article about my experience eventually but long story short it completely ruined my life for 2 years I was doing everything right health wise (diet, sleep, exercise, supplements) but I was the sickest I’d ever been

In metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease, patients have been shown to have lower circulating levels of glycine. Severly obsess people were given 100 mg/kg of glycine a day for two weeks and dropped triglycerides and liver enzymes. When you improve bile acid conjugation you excrete toxins better, absorb vitamins, digest fats, and keep the gut microbiome in check (amongst many other things).

Disrupted circadian rhythm and shift work makes you fat, wrecks your gut microbiome, and even throws off your bile. Disrupted circadian rhythm might even be a root cause for cholestasis (when bile clogs in the liver). You cant spend a day digging through research without touching circadian biology!

Gosh the PUFA obsessors are beyond annoying. "But black seed oil is a PUFA the linoleic acid will kill you!!!" These people have zero room for critical thinking or nuance.

Same is true for curcumin
Berberine's "poor bioavailability" is not a bug, it's a Feature This allows it to traverse the whole GI and act as an antifungal/antimicrobial throughout it as opposed to being absorbed at the beginning of the small intestine

When did people get the idea that Catholics are passive pushover pussies that aren’t allowed to express their opinions? I guess I blame Martin Luther, since dispensationalism produced the most cucked feminized perversion of “Christianity” imaginable. A lot of these fools on this app think being rebuked and told the truth and having their ego crushed in the process makes someone an evil person. Really that’s just you being a bitch, I’m not one to mince words. I prefer to be direct. Furthermore, the Catholic Church is a hospital for sinners, not a party mansion for saints. Yes I preach Jesus, and yes I am a sinner. Doesn’t change the reality about your situation one bit. All glory to God, go to Mass and receive Christ in the Eucharist.

Why are you not taking Taurine? Rats given taurine had a 30% increase in bile output compared to the control, and mrp2 expression (the little detox pumps on your cell membranes) had a 2-3 fold increase. Taurine also protected against endotoxin induced cholestasis.

Dentistry might be one of the most toxic professions around. Between the nickel and mercury, dentists love shoving this stuff down your throat (literally). If you have had lots of dental work, and deal with autoimmunity, you might want to start there when addressing your issues. Addressing my mercury load was one of the best things I ever did for my autoimmune.
The thymus has been rightly getting a lot of attention recently for its potent role in immunity. Rightly so. An interesting fact about thymulin, the main immunoregulatory hormone made by the thymus, is that it is zinc dependent. Meaning, in order for thymulin to become biologically active it needs to bind to zinc. In fact, serum levels of thymulin drop so consistently in zinc deficiency that active thymulin levels serve as an early indicator of zinc deficiency. I just read a paper that tracked dental workers in Egypt who were exposed to Mercury vapor and their thymus/thymulin activity. What they found in this paper was strong inverse correlations between urine mercury of these workers and thymulin activity. It was postulated that some of this inverse relationship was mediated by the antagonistic effect that mercury has on zinc. This connection between mercury and zinc is well known and especially relevant in situations where elemental mercury gets converted to the inorganic species in humans ie from Hg+0 to Hg+2. Because it is this specific form of Mercury (Hg+2) that has the strongest antagonism with Zinc because zinc exists primarily in its +2 form. Environmentally, elemental mercury can be changed from this form into inorganic mercury through the geochemical cycle so this change from one form to another not only happens in the environment but also in humans.

Same! Used to do ice baths all the time and NEVER did them after a workout. 90% of people already knew not to do them after a workout too in the "cold plunge community".
I used to regularly do ice baths. Never once did I ever hear someone promote ice baths post-resistance exercise (which is what this meta-analysis is). In fact, it was always strictly said: DON'T do it. And yet, somehow everyone anti-ice baths is arguing with a non-existent view ice bath people have.
