So the head of counterterrorism is telling us that they don’t think they were terrorists, but they were probably ‘British tourists’ doing something to earn some money.
And in order to stop anybody speculating, they have all been released on bail.
From this we are invited to infer that the most important element about this is that, unlike Danny Tommo, about whom we are allowed to speculate , led by the government , who has to stay in prison, they 5 ‘British’ men are not racists.

I think we have just seen it in action as 5 terrorist suspects are released on bail.
When our new PM said national security “cannot come at the expense of social security”, I initially thought he’d muddled his words.
But he’s doubled down.
I genuinely want Andy Burnham’s Government to succeed. If it succeeds, Britain succeeds.
But being Prime Minister means making difficult choices. And the first duty of any government is the defence of the realm.
He’s not Mayor of Manchester anymore. There’s no one above him to make the tough calls.
He’s the Prime Minister.
It’s time to start acting like it.

The RAF Fairford incident just gets weirder and weirder.
From a major incident involving vans, hooded men, armed police and bomb-disposal experts, we now have five men arrested on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences - and all five have been released on bail.
Released.
Now, I don’t have a great deal of faith in the judicial system in this country, but I doubt very much that a gang of genuine terror suspects would be allowed back on the streets.
So something strange has gone on here. My suspicion is that there is something deeply embarrassing behind all this, and the authorities are now scrambling to agree a narrative about what happened that minimises the quantity of egg on various official faces.
That may turn out to be completely wrong. But the gap between the extraordinary drama of the original incident and where we are now is striking.
This is precisely why trust in the authorities is so fragile. Everyone can see that there are enormous unanswered questions but the lack of transparency is tiresomely familiar.
As usual, we’re being treated like mushrooms - kept in the dark and fed the proverbial.

The lady that called to alert the authorities should be given an honour by the King, not demeaned by the Defence Secretary.
And, btw, it would be one of the most reputable and justified honours given to a member of the public for quite sometime.
It was a bit churlish of the Defence Secretary to take a public swipe at the anonymous eyewitness who called the police over the RAF Fairford incident. She was only doing the right thing, even if the suspects were under surveillance. Surely Ministers want to promote that

Meanwhile, Danny Tommo, charged after slashing a rubber dinghy in the Channel, remains remanded in custody.
Terrorism suspects: released on bail.
Criminal damage suspect: remanded.
This is a clear example of the law being applied politically, not equally.

No mention at all of Hamas’ & other Palestinian leaders ongoing attempts to destroy a two state solution. Total obsessive focus on Israel as block to peace & security. This isn’t diplomacy. Bill Clinton, who got closer than any, would not recognise this as forging a path to peace between peoples.

These men aged 23-25 did not decide, on their own, to get three vans full of explosives and go to blow up an airbase.
Anyone who knows a 23-25 yr old knows this.
They may however get in the van with incentives and plans devised by others. It’s not fucking rocket science. 🇮🇷

The fact that there was no answer when she tried to ring RAF Fairford probably answers that question
The woman who raised the alarm over this awful terrorist attack is a national hero.
She rang the airbase, already on high alert, to report what she’d seen and says she got no answer.
She’s right to be left 'absolutely staggered' that it took a member of the public stumbling upon them at 1am stop it.
What is the state of our national security?
