When B.C. was burning, Lorne tried to get my team deployed to help but the bureaucracy at BCWS stopped contract fire crews from Alberta from assisting. He spoke to Ravi Parmar multiple times about the contract resources which could have responded but ignored. I know of Indigenious fire crews from Williams Lake who were also sidelined for the whole season because “BCWS didn’t have a process to hire them.” Even in a provincial state of emergency, nothing changes to improve the response. We were able to get hired directly by a First Nations community to assist there, and senior BCWS leadership did their best to try interrupt that business relationship.
