You left out the rest of his statement. Hope others will listen to the end. And no, Obama never called Putin a "humanitarian."
2014. After Russia had annexed Crimea, Obama says that he has talked to Putin told him that "we are interested in good relations with Russia." Wait, Obama didn't call Putin a thug and a killer? Weird.

Hey @grok, does James Talarico support transgender transition surgery for children? If not, why is your daddy, Elon making this claim?
Talarico would vote to take away your kids and transition them, not just in Texas, but nationwide. Pure evil.

There will be plenty of losers after the election who won’t have alienated every decent person in their life. Vivek will not be one of them.

Elon’s bullshit posts now appear to be running as political ads on his own platform. Apparently, owning X still doesn’t give the manchild enough reach. These ads are being served to users in the EU, which appears to violate X’s own political advertising policy.

We should be supporting the victim, not the aggressor, in this conflict. Putin will not stop with Ukraine and is already threatening some of our NATO allies.   The reason we have had relative peace in Europe since World War II is because of the alliance between the U.S. and our European allies. Anything we do to undermine or degrade that alliance would be a big mistake.   Watch my full interview on @SquawkCNBC below⬇️   youtu.be/-dOEPJOt8Uc?t=355

Witkoff’s pathetic fawning over this KGB thug betrays American values & security. He should cite Putin’s humanitarian greatness to the prisoners he’s tortured & killed, the children he’s kidnapped, the Ukrainians whose country he’s bombing w/ bloodlust 1/ thehill.com/homenews/adminis…

I’ve seen a face like this before, many, many years ago. On a man who used to physically abuse me. I know this face. I know and still remember this twisted, controlling, angry, nasty, contorted fucking face. I know it very well.
This is the angry, evil, piggy face of a rapist.

The Trump administration just called Putin a "humanitarian". He has: - Invaded Ukraine - Imprisoned U.S. citizens - Kidnapped children - Bombed civilians - Overseen massacres - Imprisoned and silenced political opposition Releasing one prisoner does not make this war criminal a "humanitarian”.

Trump doesn’t think Ukrainians should decide their own future. He thinks Putin should. It’s a disgrace, and it's a familiar refrain that Trump cares more about Putin’s approval than Ukrainian lives.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/po…

What exactly, Iuliia, do you know about "real diplomacy"?
Social media is outraged that Steve Witkoff called Putin a “humanitarian.” But real diplomacy isn’t an X thread. We’re used to diplomacy of threats and humiliation. If Witkoff had followed that populist style, the road to Moscow would be closed—no American released today, no channel for ending the war. Saying something difficult to an adversary is harder than posting bold metaphors online. Witkoff remains a working link that can actually help stop the fighting. Online condemnations free no one.

Putin is a killer and a thug, murdering Ukrainian children, dropping bombs on neighborhoods, and tearing families apart. Calling him a humanitarian is like calling Witkoff qualified or capable of doing this job. What are we doing here?
