Now, it’s time to bring everyone together.
On October 1, we’re hosting the Four Pillars University Research Challenge 2026 Awards Ceremony & Offline Event.
The evening will feature awards and winning team presentations across all four research tracks, giving the winning researchers a chance to share their work and insights directly with the community.
✏️ @cantor8 track: Explore either the economic security risks of PoS blockchains holding large amounts of RWAs, or the legal and criminal risks associated with issuing stablecoins on public blockchains.

Hong Kong: @StanChart became the first bank to distribute HKDAP, the city's regulated $HKD stablecoin.

Rust-Daml Bindings 0.3.0
We’ve just released the latest version of Cantor8’s Rust-Daml Toolkit, bringing the @CantonNetwork ecosystem even closer to the 4-5 million-strong global community of Rust developers.
The Rust client library for Daml on Canton is officially out, marking a clean break into the modern stack. It is a continuation of FujiApple852’s original crates, now maintained and updated by the Cantor8 engineering team.
Important note: v2 only. no v1 compat shim, and LF 1.x support is dropped.

Cantor8's development team is currently in the process of building a toolkit to allow programs written in the Rust programming language to communicate with @CantonNetwork's Daml ledgers.
The smart contracts running on Canton are written in Daml (the language developed by @DigitalAsset) and its official tooling is built around Daml and the JVM. While Daml provides many of the advantages that make Canton so successful, it remains niche for now.
Rust, meanwhile, boasts an estimated 5+ million developers worldwide and is used by several major blockchain networks, including @Solana, @StellarOrg, and @NearProtocol.
This new toolkit will provide the translation layer for programs written in Rust, handling all the low-level plumbing so developers can work with Daml contracts through Rust tooling that is familiar to them.

Canton-native tokenised commodities are coming to Africa’s 600 million mobile money users.
Just days ago, we announced that our initiative with Taran to tokenise Africa’s $1.4T mobile money economy on @CantonNetwork had moved out of its initial testing phase.
Now, merchants on @Taran_App can swap tokenised mobile money directly and atomically into Gold, Silver, and T-Bills (via @EmberProtocol), all native on @CantonNetwork, and powered by @C8Wallet.
No broker. No minimum. Settlement in seconds, from the same wallet they take payments with.

What is CIP-56 and why is it so crucial for the @CantonNetwork ecosystem?
In simple terms, CIP-56 is a token standard for the Canton Network ecosystem, and it's not entirely dissimilar from @Ethereum's ERC-20 token standard.
That said, it does feature some important differences that make it suitable for sensitive, regulated, institutional use cases.
(1) Privacy: Balances and transfer histories are strictly private, being visible only to transacting parties and regulators, not the entire network (as is the case with public blockchains).
(2) Compliance: CIP-56 features inbuilt two-step settlement logic, directly preventing unauthorised transfers and allowing for strict KYC/AML policy checks.
(3) Interoperability and Inbuilt Support: Wallets, custodians, DeFi protocols, and any other application can support any CIP-56 issued asset (incl. tokenised RWAs and stablecoins) right out of the box.
In short, CIP-56 is designed specifically for regulated capital markets and institutional use cases, combining full composability with real privacy and compliance controls.
It is a small but important part of what makes Canton special.
