Long before America started debating birthright citizenship and mass deportation, the Dominican Republic had already done both.
In 2013, its equivalent of SCOTUS retroactively ended birthright citizenship, stripping roughly 200,000 people born to Haitian illegal aliens of their citizenship.
In 2024 and 2025, it deported more than 600,000 Haitians.
And it hasn't slowed down: 194,465 more in just the first eight months of 2026.
That's roughly 850,000 since 2024.
For perspective, that's the US equivalent of deporting 25 million people in just 3 years.
Could the Dominican Republic's model work in the US? If so, what would you take from it?
