📰 New paper on PublicPolicy.ie by Dr Susie Donnelly (SDR) & Dr Lynsey Kavanagh (Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre) “What gets measured gets funded: are standard evaluation frameworks failing community development work in Ireland?” When community development work struggles to evidence impact, the problem often lies not with the work itself, but with evaluation frameworks designed to measure the wrong things. Through the lens of a long-standing community health project with Travellers, this paper argues for a fundamental shift: recognising that relationships are not a soft feature of this work but its core mechanism of change, and that meaningful monitoring must be proportionate, participatory, and long term. publicpolicy.ie/papers/what-… #CommunityDevelopment #CommunityWork #Monitoring #Evaluation #TravellerHealth

Statement sent to my by an Oxbridge academic: ‘When I was interviewed for a job in an Oxbridge faculty, I was told by the chair of the job appointments panel that I was “appointable” but that the person who had been given the job had demonstrated “more experience in EDI” (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion). Applying for jobs at other universities [the situation was even worse]. When interviewed for the job in Scotland, I was similarly told that “EDI is one of the core pillars of the university”, before being asked how I would contribute to it. I thought that universities were hiring people to pursue excellence in research and teaching—instead, they are hiring people based upon conformity to the ideological zeitgeist. Universities do not want the best academics or teachers: they want ‘yes men’ who will not cause a fuss and only further entrench and spread the EDI drumbeat.’ ‘More broadly, universities should teach students about how to think in the pursuit of truth. Universities today, however, have descended into [farce].’ Many similar messages coming in. Follow me on here for more updates. Full statement is available using link in next tweet.

Replying to @FranceskAlbs
@FranceskAlbs is lying here. I listened to her interview in Italian. Those who criticised her were not misrepresenting her. She does not have courage to stand by what she said because she knows she was wrong. This is called backsliding and covering up her earlier intervention
“I want Putin to get in front of the ICC." @FranceskAlbs explains to @mehdirhasan what she actually meant when she said there shouldn’t be any more weapons sent to Ukraine, noting that there are people “exploiting” the suffering of Ukrainians.

Do housing associations even have this information? The vast majority decisions on allocations of social housing tenancies are made by local authorities. Housing associations must just house the applicants allocated to them, they can't pick and choose.

How did this case get so far... small wonder the @WRC_ie has backlogs... Vegetarian offered pâté loses discrimination case against Sheridan's Cheesemongers. NB the plaintiff did not consume the pâté but felt sick at the thought that they could have. (via @thejournal_ie) jrnl.ie/7175651

Ironic that Dublin City Council is issuing 'rental bans' to private landlords whose rented dwellings are below standard but many of the Council's own dwellings would also breech these standards. Unlike private rented housing council housing is not independently regulated.
Dublin apartment complex accounted for nearly half of all rental bans issued by the council in one year irishtimes.com/ireland/dubli…

I started studying Danish formally the day after Biden‘s disastrous debate w Trump. (Due to my Danish background, I can get citizenship in DK if I speak Danish well enough.) And I did it! Two years later, I now speak Danish well enough to get citizenship!! I am so happy! ❤️ 🇩🇰

"The FRA’s LGBTIQ Survey III does not represent the real, vulnerable population of patients with clinically diagnosed Differences of Sex Development (DSD). Instead, it relies on a non-probability convenience sample heavily dominated by self-diagnosed individuals without medical verification. By expanding an umbrella definition of “intersex” to encompass non-clinical self-identification, the FRA survey introduces profound statistical selection bias. The resulting data fails to reflect realities, ultimately harming genuine DSD patients who require rigorous, evidence-based medical and psychological care." genspect.org/the-eus-flawed-…
