This national scandal has left too many families in Scotland grieving lost sons, daughters, brothers and sisters. It should lead to urgent action.
The drug deaths statistics in Scotland are a national scandal. More of the same is not good enough.

Well your a leader now so how about spending less time bitching about it on social media and try and come up with solutions. Just remember you can't force people to stop. They have to want to stop.

@jackiebmsp should note the big increase in drug deaths is in 45 to 56 year olds … and England is under recording drug deaths

Don't think it's appropriate for politicians to exploit the situation and remember it's labour and Tories who did the ground work keeping Scotland trapped in poverty for decades.

And not a single word about the main supply chain? Hm. England does not merely leak drugs into Scotland. It feeds the market through two arteries that have shaped the country’s overdose crisis. The older one is wholesale. Now, for half a century Merseyside has been a warehouse for cocaine and heroin that Scottish crime groups buy by the kilo. Cash travels south on the M6 and M74, product comes back north. EncroChat files later showed the same map in messages: loads staged in London, Essex, Newcastle and Liverpool, then pointed at Glasgow. Liverpool’s importers sit closer to the ports. Glasgow’s firms sit closer to the customers. They trade rather than annex each other. The newer artery is county lines. Gangs from Liverpool, London and the West Midlands no longer sell a consignment and leave. They keep the phone, send runners up the east-coast rail line and the A9, and occupy flats in Inverness, Aberdeen and Peterhead. Police call it cuckooing. The line sells crack and heroin in towns too small to sustain a local cartel, then extracts the cash. Highland officers count a dozen such lines at a time and work with Merseyside’s Project Medusa to hit the exporters at source. When wholesale cocaine tightens, both systems starve, prices jump. Adulterants follow. Nitazenes appear in the mix that kills people in Glasgow closes and Highland bedsits alike. The English routes are not a side story. They are how a South American harvest becomes a Scottish death certificate. But what do I know... | #Scotland #England #BBCnews

Instead of gloating over drug deaths perhaps Baillie and Marra should tell us what actions they would take instead of hoping our Country and its institutions fail.

Indeed. Like ensuring drug laws are devolved to Scotland, just as Anas Sarwar promised before he was reigned in by your London masters Michael. #ScottishIndependenceASAP
Your reminder that Anas Sarwar once promised drug law would be devolved to Scotland only to U-turn when told to by London.

So, what would Labour do about the flow of drugs from England? How would Labour address the reserved drug legislation? How would Labour tackle the Unionist assault on the national Scottish psyche that impacts on our self esteem and ruins our self efficacy? What tf would YOU do?

why has snp ordered the cult serfs to all come out and blame England. Is it to deflect the blame and push for their no chance vote. Twitter full of brainwashed simpletons blaming England.

The rate of drug deaths in the most deprived areas of Scotland is 15 times higher than in the least deprived. People in these areas often have little hope & nil to look forward to. "The 4 walls syndrome" Methadone wasn't gradually reduced, as promised it became an aperitif.

So what is your party going to do about the drugs coming over the UK border and about the county line gangs from England bringing the stuff up to Scotland?

You unionists should really learn what is reserved and what is devolved. Drug policy is a reserved matter.

Drug deaths most prevalent in de-industrialised areas of the UK. England has a lower rate because it has more affluent areas than the areas in the north, and I include England in the north. Look it up. The union is not serving the interests of the whole island & islands.

Why did your WM masters block the safe administration rooms & support that drug users needed? The SNP wanted to adopt the recognised benefits the Portuguese research showed…still you blocked it causing more deaths & more bereft families. You really have no shame @jackiebmsp

There is no such thing as harm reduction when it come to addiction the state dealing drugs based on this idea has as the figures plainly show only increased thedeaths of these unfortunate people and they are being exploited by the state, pharmacies and its NHS for profit and job.
