YouTube has just taken down the political discussion clip about the EU's Chat Control, and the video is no longer viewable in the EU. This has been confirmed by several parties. The video is still available outside the EU. @puheenaihefi podcast is a Finnish current affairs program with 60k subscribers. In this episode, Peter Sund, CEO of the Finnish Information Security Cluster (Kyberala ry) offered pointed criticism of the EU's new Chat Control directive, which was enacted under questionable circumstances. Because the media is in Finnish, it is highly likely the censorship request came from a Finnish government official or a related party. This makes it troublesome. Because the Finnish constitution §12 guarantees freedom of expression. Mystery solved. YouTube had shadow-blocked this episode, without notifying the author, because it interpreted it as containing political advertising. The episode contains links to "Vaalipodi", another podcast in Finland that interviewed parliamentary candidates about how they would fix Finland's broken economy. Vaalipodi aired its episodes in 2023. It's not a political advertisement. YouTube automatically blocks everything it interprets as political advertisement in the EU, apparently without consent or notification from the authors. x.com/ramikurimo/status/2077…

No if it is automated takedown it is deleted and you can request review. If it is only blocked in the EU the request to take down must have come from the EU truth flaggers.

If a YT video is taken down, the owner will be notified together with a reason why. So maybe @puheenaihefi can provide some information instead of everyone guessing why the YT video is not accessible anymore.

Note that this is not automated YouTube copyright take down system or other automated system, because then the video would be blocked globally. Because it is blocked only inside the EU the request to take down must have come from EU truth flaggers that speak Finnish. The video does not contain hate speech or any questionable material. In Finland political speech is protected, even more than regular speech. Discussing about the EU legislation is very political. There is literally no reason to take it down except for 1) you are a butthurt politician who voted for chat control 2) you are an overjealous EU Digital Services Act truth flagger. In both cases it is a crime in Finland, and a punishable offense, because you use authority and power to suppress legal political speech. Criminal report is the best way forward to resolve this.
