Labour have an obsession with slashing pensions and disability benefits, it’s a compulsion they don’t seem able to resist, it reeks of The Tony Blair Institute.

As well as this Nest pensions hasn't had a contribution from our employer @thecanaryuk since March. This is despite it being taken from our pay each month. This is less urgent than the final pay situation but still important.

Myself and other now-former @TheCanaryUK staff haven't been paid our final pay and holiday pay. Numerous emails have been ignored, and we don't even know what the final amounts will be. Multiple marginalised people will struggle to afford bills and keep roofs over our heads.

Helen Whatley MP spends every day bashing disabled people online and calling them scroungers. She has claimed for almost £2,000,000 on expenses since 2015. £300,000 of this are for her own travel and accommodation etc, yet she lives 50 miles from London.

🚨 NEW: Kemi Badenoch says the Tories would end the current sick note system If a worker wants a sick note for 4 weeks or more, GPs would have to refer them to an occupational therapist who would assess if and how much they can work

Labour are planning to make their 50% cut to the health component of Universal Credit into a 100% cut for under-25s. The existing cut is already a gigantic poverty accelerator in-waiting, this'll tip people over the edge entirely if it happens. theguardian.com/politics/202…

The government truly want disabled people dead
Andy Burnham’s announcement of free personal care as part of a new National Care Service will only apply to those over 65, and not to working-age disabled people, No 10 has confirmed, sparking shock and concern among disabled people’s organisations. disabilitynewsservice.com/fr…

We are just Germany in the 1930s instead of blaming Jews we are blaming migrants. But they aren't responsible for Austerity, Brexit or the profiteering crisis. #bbcqt

Are you going to create the jobs and support too? Not paying companies for 6 months
Young people shouldn't be able to drift from education to life on benefits. We will end Universal Credit for people turning 18 and replace it with a Get To Work programme. We need to bring fairness back to the system. A life on benefits isn't good for anyone.

Two million pensioners live in poverty. We spend less on pensions than other rich countries. Yes, we desperately need a National Care Service. Don't make today's workers poorer in their old age to pay for it!

It feels like they’ve all consumed some weird hallucinogenic drug that makes everything look fantastic, like scrapping the triple lock and slashing disability benefits is somehow fantastic if it’s delivered with vibes.
It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me… but what a time it’s been. Sadness that conference is over, but full of excitement and hope for what’s next.

The UK had a decent Mental Healthcare system from the early 2000s to the the early 2010s but it has been completely destroyed There is essentially no Mental Healthcare support and the cost of this is FAR greater than the cost of providing it
I am fucking devastated. My daughter is autistic. She has struggled with her mental health for years. She was discharged from the local mental health team. And what support was put in place to help her STAY WELL? None. Absolutely fucking none. Her mental health has deteriorated badly again. Last night I was up into the early hours listening to and seeing my daughter in immense distress. So I called 111 out of hours because I was desperately trying to get help. And what was I told? Ring back in the morning. Why? Because my daughter couldn't speak to them herself. Let that sink in. She couldn't speak because she was in crisis. What the actual fuck are families supposed to do with that? How are people supposed to access mental health services when the very reason they need help means they may not be able to communicate with the service asking them to communicate? This is not support. This is not prevention. This is waiting for someone to fall apart and then wondering why they're in crisis. My daughter deserved better. She deserved someone to actually support her mental health. She deserved continuity. She deserved professionals who understood her autism and her needs. She deserved services working WITH her and WITH her family to keep her well. Instead, once again, we have been left picking up the pieces. And I'm fucking sick of it. My daughter has spent two years battling silent demons. We fought so hard to get her to a better place. And now? We're back at square one. And I am terrified about what comes next. Because when services fail to support my daughter, it isn't just her who suffers. Our whole family suffers. And once again we face the possibility of being dragged through the courts when what my daughter actually needs is proper mental health support. So I'm asking the question I've asked myself over and over again: WHY THE FUCK DOES THE NHS KEEP LETTING PEOPLE LIKE MY DAUGHTER DOWN? Why does support disappear when someone is discharged? Why aren't autistic people with complex mental health needs supported to REMAIN WELL? Why does it feel like services wait until someone is in absolute crisis before they take their mental health seriously? Why do families have to scream, fight, complain and beg for help? My daughter shouldn't have to become desperately unwell before somebody decides she is unwell enough to deserve help. She deserved to be well. She deserved to stay well. She deserved better. And today, I'm fucking heartbroken that once again, the system has failed her.

A sad reminder that this Labour govt is still pursuing an agenda to slash refugee rights -allow use of force on families & children -charge recognised refugees £10k before they can settle -use AI to “determine” age among young ppl & kids Mahmood’s asylum bill must be stopped.
Labour voters have turned on Shabana Mahmood over migration, a major new poll shows. Almost half of 2024 Labour voters are dissatisfied with the Government’s handling of immigration and asylum, according to a YouGov survey. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

Why is it the Tories can do what they want with a large majority in parliament, but Labour have to wait until after another general election? It's like they have no intention of implementing the policies that will upset their private donors. 🤔

Part of why I think the Burnham Gambit isn't going to work, is because we've got another three years of this shit while telling people you might do something about it after an election you are basically certain to lose seats in.
The energy price cap is going up by 4% tomorrow, & the latest forecast says its going to rise by another 16% in January.
