The bottom-up investigative journalism movement continues. It’s sloppy and imperfect and politically biased, sure, but it’s better than the job the @nytimes and @cnn are no longer doing! These investigators need to do Texas and Florida, which I encouraged @nickshirleyy to do. He said it’s in his plans. A better concept for busting these scam businesses would be to put a camera on them for 30 days and then run AI against it to count the number of unique people and their ages coming in and out There is no expectation of privacy on a public street, and you could use aggregate data and not release anyone’s faces And for the record, nothing stops AGs and investigators from doing this exact thing for extremely low cost—which makes one wonder why they aren’t doing it. 🤔
