To do the math here you first have to fix a basic error: Bradford’s 2026 figure includes the rate budget (garbage, water, parking) but his 2011 figure does not.
Real numbers: $9.4 billion in 2011; $16.6 billion in 2026.
Now account for ~800K population growth and ~40% inflation

It’s actually the tenants themselves, led by the Dawes Road Tenants Association, who deserve credit. They simply wouldn’t accept anything less than active support from City Hall- even if it took years to achieve.

My daughter had a breakdown because her teacher is changing, and there's an element of, I don't want her breaking down because of these things that are outside (currently) our power to change, but also, seems bad to make kids get used to something then out of nowhere rip it away

This is EXCELLENT @MoreNeighbours! The consistent & causative relationship between density/land use & emissions is a big part of why @EnviroDefence invests so much of its effort into ensuring Ontario's new homes & workplaces are used to DENSIFY existing suburbs, not create more.
Scott Baker explains the 1989 study where Peter Newman compared 32 cities and found spread-out ones burn way more gas. Newman's now a co-author on Scott's new research. Full Making Room talk linked below.
