Josh Collette, a father of five, has been in the intensive care unit after he jumped into San Clemente’s Riviera Beach, breaking 2 vertibrea and badly damaging his spinal cord.
Josh, an avid swimmer and surfer, was trying to rescue 2 kids caught in a rip current.
Rose, Josh’s wife, has to read his lips and speak for him, as he is paralyzed after he hit his head on a sand wall created by the rip current.
“I dove headfirst, and that’s my fault. I should not have… I could feel myself dying. I couldn’t breathe, and they pulled me up out of the water.”
The family has raised $204,000 to help Josh get transferred to a Colorado facility that specializes in these types of injuries.

Vince Wilfork says he has stayed in constant communication with #Patriots DT Christian Barmore since he entered the NFL after Bill Belichick personally asked him to mentor Barmore, per @kguregian.
Wilfork says it started when Belichick reached out to him saying, “Hey Vince. This kid is pretty good. I think he can be the next you, the next great D-tackle. He’s just young. He’s just immature. So anything you can do to help me teach him the ropes of the game, I’d appreciate it.”
Wilfork added that he plans to continue communicating with Barmore:
“I won’t stop. I love to see young guys play ball the way it needs to be played… I’m just making sure he understands he needs to be ready to rock ‘n roll and lead this team. I’m just trying to give him a little push.”
Christian Barmore says he receives a motivational text from #Patriots legend Vince Wilfork every game day.
“Every time it’s game day he hits me up and says, ‘Aye man, you gotta set the tone every time.’ He gets me fired up every time… He’s a legend, y’know what I’m saying? He’s one of the best players ever to play the game. So, every time he texts me or just like hits me up, that just be a blessing because like he a legend… He motivates me every time I see that message, fasho.”
