i hate Flock as much as the next girl, but this is simply a completely broken criminal justice system, from cops to prosecutors to jailers. no actual police work happened here. and then they tortured her.
Lindsey Isaacs, a 23-year-old from Palm Coast, Florida, testified about being thrown into solitary confinement for more than three days after a Flock license-plate camera wrongly tied her Dodge Durango to a deadly I-4 crash.
Jail staff told her she had to stay isolated because of how serious the charges were. The cell door stayed locked for about 86 hours.
She said she was terrified she would spend the rest of her life in prison for a wreck she knew she hadn’t caused.
At her lowest point she didn’t want to live. She spent nearly two weeks in maximum-security jail before prosecutors dropped the charges.
Flock should be sued out of existence for this.

Unfortunately for Republicans, the situation is very easy to describe:
1. Trump won a cost-of-living election
2. Then he publicly announced a plan to raise the price of imports
3. Then he even-more-publicly started a war that raised the price of gas
4. Meanwhile, he got rich on crypto scams, while engaging in downright Pynchonian misadventures with the reflecting pool and ballroom, which sent the unmistakeable signal that "I care more about random bullshit than America's money problems ... and also I'm not even good at executing on the random bullshit"
For the midterms, I think corruption/self-dealing is issue 1b behind cost of living as 1a.
It's not just that people feel things are unaffordable for themselves, they think those in power are helping rich friends get richer.

But what makes this an especially stupid move by Trump is that Russia has banned its own diesel exports until October 31st. It's Putin who's blocking Russian diesel, not Zelenskyy...

Good. But it feels sensationalist to say Ukraine "hit Moscow" without pointing out this means legitimate military and refinery targets, not the apartment buildings, shops, and other civilians that Russia intentionally targets in its war of terror.
Ukraine has hit Moscow with what local authorities said was the largest ever drone attack on the Russian capital, setting a major oil refinery ablaze.

1) Retake Kaliningrad for its military value
2) Land bridge through sparse territory may not cause pushback.
3) Ties up resources that can’t be sent to Ukraine.
4) Distracts NATO giving China an opening on Taiwan, in exchange for Russian support.
A dying old mad man with imperial ambitions wants to be remembered as the man who rebuilt the Russian empire.
And the world has showed him at each turn, that they won’t stand up to him.
His calculus is not that of a rational nation.
You should not doubt the risk of what lays ahead.

Hard to overstate how big a failure DOGE was. The government slashed its workforce without meaningfully shrinking the government’s overall footprint. So taxpayers got a less capable bureaucracy while spending billions paying people not to work. It was mostly performance art.
