Making up a quote is not a mark of a "high-trust civil society"

Wait, $5 an hour? Were people working for that little? That would be weird, since the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Do Democrats want mass migration so a class of foreign workers can undercut Americans at illegal rates while they also advocate for a higher minimum wage?

The word "nuance" has more to do with subtlety than it does with moral complexity, and yet I am constantly—and increasingly—hearing people using it as follows: Person A: *makes assertion* Person B: "I actually think [assertion] is more nuanced..." What Person B usually means is either that [assertion] is wrong or that it is more complicated/difficult than Person A is making it out to be. Or: "I think [insane woke thing from 2020 that we can all finally speak out against] is actually really nuanced." But what that actually means is, "I think [insane woke thing from 2020 that we can all finally speak out against] is actually insane." It's funny, I think we have started using "nuance" as a cover for mealymouthed speech. Can't commit to being truly assertive in the face of someone else's assertion, so we default to "nuance."

Cambridge is no longer planning to investigate Jason Arday’s academic record or the university’s decision to hire or cover for him. Instead, the investigation will focus on “his welfare, his care, his well-being” and “whether the school offered him sufficient support amid accusations that he plagiarized.”

Do we expect any attorney general positions to flip this year? Georgia might theoretically, but downballot lag + Jackson's strong campaign could prevent it. WI/MI/NV/AZ are probably potential flips, but it's a very blue year. Ellison in MN would be in trouble in a redder year.

You’re right — it’s a really difficult topic. Many people wouldn’t exist if not for IVF. Many people wouldn’t have children if not for IVF. All life is a sacred gift from God. But we can say that and also be honest at the same time that the way IVF is practiced in this country is NOT conducive to life. In fact, we HAVE to, if we are going to be successful in protecting innocent, vulnerable, human life, which begins at the moment of fertilization (according to science!). The creation of unused embryos via IVF each and every year almost doubles the number of abortions that occur every year. It’s not easy to talk about. But we have to be honest. The millions of lives on ice deserve our honesty.

Arlington’s Commonwealth’s Attorney testified that her office has a DUI policy specifically for DACA recipients. In a small number of cases, prosecutors have considered changing a DUI to a different first-degree misdemeanor so the defendant can renew DACA status. (We don’t have first-degree misdemeanors - they are called Class 1 misdemeanors - surprised an elected prosecutor doesn’t know that). She says the defendant is still held accountable and the original DUI charge remains visible. But DACA status is a factor in the plea resolution, one that an American citizen charged with the same offense cannot invoke.
